RKS has made several great films like Ghayal, Damini, while GHATAK too was good, He made TLOBS with Ajay Devgan giving him a national award KHAKEE is the first time he works with BIG B and the film was hyped a lot and people expected a lot from the film. KHAKEE is known for many reasons, first of all it resurrected Akshay's career and people noticed his comic timing for the first time. It also was considered one of the best films made on cops. The film does have some issues more on that later. The film starts off well, the director tries to establish most characters possible though he does stick to clichés too like Angre's character could be better, even ther eare lot of clichés and filmy dialogues yet the film is hardhitting, especially when AB fights against the system, the attack on the cops while going to chandangadh though at times there are some filmy stunts which look odd. The film also suffers due to the forced song and dance yet must say this is one of the best cop films in bollywood. The twist at the interval and at the finale do shock you too.Direction by RKS is great Music seems forced though VAADA RAHA is goodAmitabh Bachchan is simply outstanding in the role, the trauma, pain is all well brought out, his scenes in the police station, his confrontation with ANGRE are all fantastic. Sadly he didn't receive any award for his act. Akshay Kumar's comic bone got noticed in this film and after this in MSK, he is simply terrific in his role though at times his role does tend up to be silly yet he is also fab in the dramatic and emotional scenes, his pre interval clash with BIG B is superb and also his pre climax scene. Aishwarya Rai hardly gets scope though her pre climax twist is well handled. Ajay Devgan does get a clichéd role but he is superb in his negative role again after Deewangee, his face offs with BIG B are simply outstanding.Tusshar is sincere though at times his dialogue delivery does seem forced. Amongst rest, Prakash Raj has a brief role and is good though his voice is dubbed, Sabyasachi Chakravarthy is excellent in his role, Atul Kulkarni leaves a mark, Jaya Pradha is as usual in a brief role, Tanuja is good in her role, Kamlesh Sawant, Ashwini are fab Rest are okay.

I love Rajkumar Santoshi's Andaz Apna Apna - it is my favorite comedy. But I have not found a lot to like in what I saw of Hall Bol and all of Legend of Bhagat Singh. I finally saw Khakee and found it quite riveting. It was a taut action packed thriller, smart, and with a couple of decent twists - kind of what RACE might have wanted to be. But as it lacked cheapness - be it in the innuendo or the slutty female quotient, I found much to like here. In fact the film boasted of a fine performance from Amitabh, Akki was decent, Ajay was very good - after a long time I saw him in a convincing role that he played extremely well. Aish was OK - a bit weak IMO, except in the last 5 or so minutes. I think she could not decide how to act in the film - the innocent or the siren. Tusshar was OK, the rest of the supporting cast was excellent including Atul Kulkarni, Tanuja and Jaya Prada. The film did not need any songs at all. Mind you I did not mind the relief they provided from the tension that was escalating in the film, but they were NOT needed and were not that great.Yes it was the same old story of corruption at the highest levels, but it was revealed slowly and the film did not beat it to death. The atmosphere or danger and menace was well developed and the action sequences were quite realistic.

Rajkumar Santoshi has an enviable portfolio with Ghayal, Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, China Gate, Ghatak, China Gate, Pukaar and Bhagat Singh. All his serious movies have intense moments, great dailogues and a great storyline. With Amitabh as the principal actor in this venture - audience were expecting Santoshi to pull up a fantastic feat. So what went wrong then? For starters, the length of the movie and then the sub-plots. The movie is loaded with twists. Count the number of them listed below:***** SPOILERS *******Atul Kulkarni not being a terrorist - Twist!Akshay Kumar change of heart to support a good mission - Twist!Ajay Devgan being an ex-cop - Twist! The CM being corrupt - Twist! The Commissioner being corrupt - Twist! The death of Atul Kulkarni - Twist!Change of heart by the officer-in-charge in Police Station - Twist!Deciphering the post box number where the important documents are stored - Twist!Aishwarya on the bad side - Twist!Tusshar finishing the evil for good - Twist, and the only acceptable one!Couldn't any of the regular baddie enacted the role of Aangre? Where was the value-addition of having Ajay Devgan? The story has its own doses of loopholes as well. Writer Shridhar Raghavan needed a proper reality check. Songs were not required neither the romantic track. This movie was projected as Zanjeer Part Two and had all of potential with story something like Amitabh falsely accused of letting the terrorist escape and the rest of the movie is how Amitabh comes out clean chit.Anyone who appears in the frame have been provided adequate scope to perform and have given their best - the director should be lauded in this respect. With given resources, a better product could have been churned out.

A good Director like Santoshi can sap the last bit of talent like a child sucks the last drop from a Coke bottle. Bachchan,Kulkarni, Devgan in that order have proven that they are assets to the Indian Cinema as opposed to a disgrace like Sharukh Khan,Johny Lever,Salman Khan,Shakti Kapoor etc. The movie has some excellent action sequences, incredible acting from Atul Kulkarni and Amitab Bachchan. Kulkarni who was the conniving politician in "Satta" is brilliant in the scene where he was set up and Bachchan has uses his full range and reportoire specially in the scene where he preaches the Superindent. Ajay Devgan is never a let down. I always maintained that Akshay Kumar is great in comedy (Heera Pheri)and I think Ash Rai should probably follow his foot steps since this woman has proven that she is unable to act period. AK, AB, and Santoshi, Action by Tinnu Varma should win awards and this movie is a representation of the evolving rebirth of Indian Cinema from the decadance.
