It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Six years after Spielberg's "Duel," this "The Car" resumes the theme and manages to make an equally dramatic and engaging film. Perhaps this is exactly what Elliot Silverstein has proposed and succeeded. Not seeing who the driver is, the big black car is the evil character, a devil-possessed car. Which "dies" in a massive explosion, but because is the devil himself, the end credits are flowing on the images with the wheels of the same car... Great performances by all the actors, James Brolin, John Marley, Ronny Cox, but specially by Kathleen Lloyd and R.G. Armstrong. Great suspense!

Each of you must have a certain set of films, which can be combined into a single more or less slender list. It will tape sincerely loved you, and ranks high in all kinds of tops. This movie you can always with great pleasure to review, despite the fact that it has been N-FLOW time. These movies are loved, respected, and in the company of well-educated people in cinematic terms, you can start a conversation about this movie and keep the conversation going. So, "The Car" - with a huge degree of probability is not in those lists of most viewers. He's an old, rated the Audience Award - below average, and that's where something must now become the appropriateness write a review for this tape. The reason is simple - the movie is not so bad and is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. The tape does not try to outdo something to reach some point or pretend Th-what is not really. From the beginning, it shows its true face of low-budget thriller, with a fairly standard narrative scheme. In the life of a small town there is something that is killing (in this case - converted "Lincoln"), after a series of murders takes over the local hero (often - the sheriff), and after the failure of one still finds the strength to cope with the task. Scheme guileless and all long familiar, even in the distant 1977 But what distinguishes this case from many others like him - implementation of the protagonist, as such (in the sense of a car). Taking the example of the best samples of the genre, the killer if what scares because of its history, the idea of purpose in the end - or rather the lack of it all. Whence, what appeared, why kill - is not known. Fact - kills. And this, mind you, six years before the "Christine" by Stephen King and a quarter of a century to "Almost like a Buick" from the same master of horror. Some features will be present in these books, but to blame the inhabitant of Maine for plagiarism or copyright borrowing still not worth it - not such innovative ideas, but I wonder embodied already in «The Car». Local story and for history merciless to the main characters, as well as all honest thrillers of the time that were not afraid of the blood shed, and crush some of the approximate antagonist. With all the budget and a certain intimacy, which could not but affect the scenario and its capacity to accuse him of Leaky not work. If that happens in the film, then for some purpose, explicit or not. With four-wheel character fights a standard set of good guys quiet town. Then you and the main character, a positive from all sides a lawyer, and his friend with a drinking problem, and a grumpy family, and even a police officer, who stayed a couple of days until retirement (the author insists on putting on such characters timer countdown to death) . Volume of these characters have little or no, but to honor the actors who played at the level corresponding to the level of the film. The tape itself is well aware that he could not show off the main characters, and puts on a central character, the fact that "almost like" Lincoln. "He struggled trying to scare or impress. Designers had a hand in the appearance of the car, making the front of the more "evil" and expressive. More elegant solution - a yellow car windshield. The latter, though, and leads friendship with otherworldly powers, has the honor roll is not in the trivial type of blood-red, the color - the sun, from which contrast with the acts even more interesting. Completes this is not quite the standard position the horn, which is not something that scares - more annoying and adds discomfort. Cute car with cemetery relationship experts understand the theme from the first hint and get a real pleasure, without waiting for the fact that they all chew. Here such it is not a standard "The Car", 1977 edition. Not having a great timing and overgrown by a series of third-sequels (and where with such a budget, and this ending?), He is able to give a pleasant evening in the company cinephile. Stars from the sky it is not enough, but at the same time may be pleasantly surprised. Moreover, this movie even catered to the list under the sonorous title of "Top 100 worst movies that can give pleasure", which in itself is interesting and worthy of respect.Source - http://review.couplelovestyle.com/pochti-kak-linkoln/

I watched this when I was a kid and I really liked it. I re watched it recently and liked it just as much. Now, it's not for everyone cause it's extremely cheesy, but it really is a cult classic. A possessed car roams a small town in Utah, killing off citizens and police officers. It's so much fun. It also has a lot of great, memorable scenes, like the car in the garage scene, or the car through the house scene, or even the final scene. Also, like any cheesy movie, it has some great lines such as "CAT POO!" or "farting music for a year". It really needs to be seen to understand what is so great about it. It also includes a pretty good soundtrack and a real sense of tension in the scenes involving the car. I think it's an underrated cult classic that more people need to see.

Like a supernatural hybrid of Spielberg's Duel and Jaws, The Car sees the population of a desert town terrorised by an enormous, black, driver-less 2-door chop top intent on murder and mayhem, with local cop Wade Parent (James Brolin) doing his best to destroy the 4-wheeled menace. While John Carpenter's Christine is certainly the most famous demonic car in the movies, the massive malevolent vehicle in this '77 chiller is no less worthy of recognition—virtually indestructible and utterly merciless, this seemingly unstoppable and hugely imposing mechanical predator makes for a monster every bit as nightmarish as those that kill with tooth or claw.Special effects wise, there might be little to rival the magical sight of a wrecked Plymouth Fury repairing itself, but director Elliot Silverstein still manages to deliver plenty of impressive imagery and spectacular stunts along the way, the car running two young cyclists off a mountain road (and over the edge of a precipice), attacking a parade, ploughing headlong into a pair of police cars, and even careering right through a house.6.5 out of 10, rounded up to 7 for IMDb.
