This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

This series is so bad i had to actually reset password just so i can come on here and vent!.Netflix recently added this and being a lee fan felt i must watch....This series is simply horrible and non factual and virtually all made up for example this is meant to be set in the 50s - 60s yet Bruce goes to a boxing gym and there's a black gentleman randomly wearing a full Glasgow Celtic football club football strip with shirt and shorts and socks and boxing gloves with the Nike logo from around 2004 not to mention all the cars and food items and things from our time being all around him.Theme song is HORRIFIC made a point of skipping it every episode. And what is with all the anti British hate at the start??? Claiming the reason Bruce was always fighting was because racist British school kids were bullying him WHAT? And that he longed to batter the British and teach us a lesson WHAT? in reality He fought with Chinese triads sons and this led to his parents having to send him away from Hong Kong yet this film makes out that the Chinese in Hong Kong hated the British and were bullied by them and that Bruce hated the British. Yet in real life Hong Kong and majority of its people is actively trying to rejoin the UK and campaigning for it. First few episodes are virtually all anti British garbage. There's nothing about Bruce being a child movie actor at all no mention of it at all only a posh private British school where hes apparently bullied by the British kids and has to fight them all the time as hes racially oppressed by them but it actually ends up coming across as hes being the racist one.The series is badly made and full of awful racial stereotypes like IP man for example with the big beard. And whats with Bruces psycho father? Bruce is bad at school so his father says you fight again i will break both your legs what???? Then stands waiting on his son with a big spear to beat him with OK.....There's so much wrong with it i cant even begin to get it all down and i never leave reviews for anything on here but this garbage virtually forced me to leave a review here and the guys leaving these amazing fantastical reviews on here for this series must surely be being paid to do this or suffer from some sort of mental retardation. This series is about as factually and historically accurate as Mel Gibsons Braveheart! In short a made up fantasy. Totally disgusting this series does nothing but use the Bruce Lee name for gain while having no heart no good acting nothing except Brucesploitation.Watch Dragon the Bruce lee story movie or the immortal dragon both are far far better than this whole series. I get the feeling the makers just hated the UK and just made up the whole of Bruce's life in Hong Kong to be about hating the British

1. Totally Racist!2. With the exception of a few actors marginal performance, the vast majority of the supporting cast was outright horrendous!3. Xenophobic propaganda not befitting the Chinese people and more like that of a Cold War propaganda film than a tribute to one of the Greatest Most Beloved and Respected Chinese American figures of all time that should have been used as the opportunity as it was to bring both races together4. The Direction, Director of Photography and Writers depict the talent of a High School project than actual professionals (I can't believe Netflix was this desperate to actually pay to broadcast this)5. The Location and Set Directors were so pathetic and this was shot as such a low budget project that any possibility of believing this was a period film ranging in the 1960-1970's when you have 2000+ model year cars driving down the freeway, stock footage using NYPD 2006 police cars in footage meant to be Seattle. The worst Seattle Police Bureau officers and uniforms with "Security Officer" badges and patches, Signage technology that didn't even exist until the mid 1990's6. Wardrobe was pathetic...embarrassing 7. Totally inaccurate depiction of Chinese culture, Chinese/Hong Kong Police, laws and procedures8. Totally inaccurate depiction of American culture, Police, Constitutional, State and Federal laws and procedures. As messed up as the legal system in America might be right now, there is a system. The Seattle Police remind me more of a Nigerian village police (including that actors themselves) than any law enforcement agency I've seen in the US.9. Ip Man is coming back from his grave to get you for the horrifically poor depiction of him.10. Bruce Lee was in no way a perfect human, but what he accomplished in America, for China and it's people, the art of Kung Fu (Wing Chun in particular) and martial arts as a whole deserved this story to be more accurate, more respectful of who Bruce Lee really was, his mannerisms, his family, friends and foes. This version is more fiction than reality.11. The Stunts and Fight Choreography and skill set of the martial artists and actors skills were nothing short of pathetic. The fact that this series got more than 1 Star rating is more about the Love of Bruce Lee and how hungry the world is to still watch anything with his name on it 40 years after his early passing.I have not been this disappointed and saddened by a series that got is so wrong ever.

It's not as inspiring and action packed as Dragon the Bruce Lee Story, but Danny Chan is a spitting resemblance of Bruce Lee, including his mannerisms and how he fights is pretty close to being spot on. The start of each episode was annoying with the intro music. It felt like a cheap karaoke soundtrack and some karaoke singer was just singing along to it. Quite off putting. Also the movie did not cover the sub story of each sibling, his mum and dad (it would have helped with the influences they would have had on Bruce growing up). There were far too much focus on his high school sweetheart. Their love story was very bland and uninteresting (I felt she was just as bland and uninteresting too). The interaction between his classmates were quite poor. The character development between his classmates and the teachers with Bruce did not transition well. The depiction of the timeline when it was shot seemed inaccurate. He was brought up during the 60s and 70s, but detail like what the boxers wore at his school (they were wearing modern baggy basketball shorts and singlet) were not a reflection of this era. Generally I'm not sure if the series was accurate or made up. And shouldn't Bruce Lee and his family and the characters in Hong Kong spoke Cantonese not Mandarin? Also with the Netflix version why couldn't the white people both in Hong Kong and USA speak English! The English parts looked dubbed over. It looked unnatural that the African Americans, the English and the Americans spoke Mandarin and not English! It would have been better if Bruce having arrived in the US for the first time would attempt to speak English but only to be ridiculed and tricked my westerners. This would definitely highlight the challenges he had with racism and adapting to a new culture. His effort to integrate especially with understanding and speaking English, would have been more interesting, and we would have felt closer to the Bruce's character and felt more sympathetic to the challenges he faced. It is a poor follow up to the Bruce Lee story. Uninspiring, long, uninformative and almost unentertaining.Having been a Bruce Lee fan since I was a teenager, I feel disappointed at this attempt on portraying his life. I hope there is a better spin off for his story in the future (the same way Wong Fei Hung and Ip Man had been tremendous). It is a small budget series, but that shouldn't be an excuse for a poorly made series.I would not recommend at all for any Lee fans, martial art fans or anybody else for that matter.
