This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

The book itself was great. The movie? Not so much. The book went into quite a bit of detail while also containing suspense and mystery. As for the movie, I felt that it was based too much on the book and didn't leave a lot to the imagination. I could pretty much predict what was going to happen next. Had I not read the book before seeing the movie, I probably would have liked the movie better but to me, watching it was just a big waste of time and had I not been watching it for an English class, I probably would have watched another movie before I even got half way through this one. If you can avoid it, I would not recommend watching this movie.

Working together with Jared Rushton, Mark Griffith puts the beloved "Hatchet" , by Gary Paulsen on screen. 13 year old Brian Robeson must live in the Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes. Now Brian must gather all his courage to survive.First, the better part of the movie is that Mark Griffith and his team could really capture the forest and put it on set, add animals to the movie and film the landscape from the top and bottom. It is also good that the movie isn't too long, since the book has very much detail. Now, the juicy details about the bad stuff. The movie happens to be poorly acted, the storyline is out of original placement, the special effects such as the tornado and the blood sputtering out of the bear look fake adding to that, important scenes turn out to be no more than a bear attack or a tiny side scene. Additionally, I do not understand why all animals in the wild must be food or foe. Finally, the ratings. I feel "A Cry in the Wild" deserves one and a half stars since it isn't well acted, it has poor special effects and animals are seen as enemies. To make this movie better I suggest following the book with only minor changes and putting some real hard work into it. All in all the movie "A Cry in the Wild" is not to my satisfaction.

Movie Critique1 In the movie Hatchet there is a boy named Brian. He wants to fly in the summer to his dad because his mom and his dad are separated. On the way the pilot gets a heart attack. and Brian crashed in the wilderness, in a lake. He must survive only with a hatchet. At first Brian can't survive but then he made a bow and a spear. He finds a shelter, he catches fish with his spear and he shoots foolbrids with his bow. After his tornado Brian saw the plane in the lake. He swam to the plane and gets the survival pack. In the survival pack was a black hunting firearm and a rescue pistol and lots of food a, a knife, an emergency transmitter and stuff like this. At last he gets rescued from a man who lives close to Brian.2 I like how Brian makes the fire because its more real than in the book. In the book you only read it an in the movie you WATCH it so. 3 I really like that Brian landed with luck in the lake. In the book he landed without luck in the lake.4 I give the movie 7 stars because Mark Griffith did a very good job and the movie is really awesome.

In my Lit. class we've just finished the book, Hatchet, and this movie is nothing like the book. (1) Brian never ate worms in the book. (2) He didn't know the pilot's name. (3) His mom was cheating on his father in a station wagon not in the woods where anyone could see. (4) The man the mother is cheating with doesn't have black hair, he has blonde. Now for the unrealistic parts of the movie: (1) A thirteen year old can't punch his fist through a window in one punch. And for the acting, the kid who played Brian was a horrible actor. However, I do believe that the scenery was impressive, though I highly doubt the director even read the book. This movie is good if you have not read the book Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, but if you have, then begin a complaint letter to the director.
