In 1953, Horace Carter earned a Pulitzer Prize for Meritorious Public Service for his reporting on the Ku Klux Klan. Carter persevered in the face of death threats, including those against his family, and used the editorial authority of North Carolina's TABOR CITY TRIBUNE to protest the Klan's racist rhetoric and vigilantism. Carter's bold reporting and the unwavering integrity of his editorials helped lead to the first federal intervention in the south during that era and to the arrest and conviction of nearly 100 klansmen.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

This is a super documentary and I would recommend it to anyone; and especially to anyone with interest in Southeastern North Carolina and its history! I knew Horace Carter and his family personally and my Mom did some creative advertising for his newspapers and other businesses. I knew some of this story but this movie really hit a home run further informing me. I knew Horace was a hero but I didn't fully understand how much of one he was. I don't think 1 person in a million would have done what he did. The actual violence was scary but it was nothing compared to the mental, social, verbal, economic and similar toll it too on everyone in the area. He is a shining star of courage for his family, Tabor City and everyone else.
