It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

This is one of those films that is bad but good at the same time. For a low budget horror, it is OK. It is better than a heck of a lot of the low budget stuff I have seen, and I have seen a lot. I seem to watch low rated, low budget horror movies for kicks. I don't know why. I guess I get a buzz out of watching them and then writing a critical review on what was good and what was bad. There are quite a few cheesy moments in the film, but the cheese moments, in my opinion, could have been avoided. For instance, the machine has, like, kitchen knives and butcher knives on mechanical arms that move up and down. It looks like something a kid would imagine for a mangler. It does not fit the "priceless antique" mangler image that Hadley is rebuilding. It wouldn't have killed the designers of the machine to make it more believable (pun intended) on the budget. Also, it would not mangle the way it does in the film. It is more of a stabbing machine. The second cheesy moment I laughed at was when Hadley is fixing a piece of a washing machine at the beginning of the film. All he does it hit it with a hammer. It looks so stupid. At least act like you are actually fixing it.People seem to be complaining about the rubber mallet. Well, he was a repair man and was using the tool he used in his profession. That is all. It worked fine for me. He could have swung it with more force, though. No one would get knocked out with a subtle hit on the head like he does. You'd get a headache only. You'd swing it with all your might. Get a fake one if necessary. The high pitched music in the dramatic scenes was really annoying. I hated that. The acting was good. It was better than a lot of acting in low budget horror. Also, I love Aimme Brooks so that helps. In all, I was actually on the edge of my seat throughout the movie. With that in mind, and despite the critical elements I have made, I give it a rating of 4 out of 10.Now go watch it! For the enjoyment and the cheese! Alles Klar Auf Wiedersehen

So many bad reviews for a movie that was made for less than $100,000, come on people you guys act like your actual movie critics. I bet most of you don't even know good horror when you see it. Yes, the film has some flaws but many of the performances are good, the soundtrack is retro old school and come on Reggie Banister is in this! A decent horror flick when you think of how small the budget was! I liked it! I have seen much worse! The movie is shot in mostly one location because of the budget, some of the actors weren't as good as you would like but come on this is horror! I also love the opening sequence with the newspaper articles, cool concept. I also thought Hadley was very creepy especially when he says "I am the machine"..cool soundtrack, some creepy moments, not too shabby!

First let me say that, yes, this movie is quite awful and will go down as one of the worst movies I've seen. Thankfully though, this is one of those awful horror movies that's funnier than many comedies I've seen. The first big laugh came during the opening credits, where the camera pans across newspaper clippings that give some back story, saying things like "Machine considered 'cursed'". However, most of the clippings are just things the director printed from Word and cut out (ie, they're clearly not from the newspaper). The second big laugh came when the main girl is dumped by her boyfriend and goes to cry while taking a shower. During the shower, the camera moves directly from her face to her chest and stays there for a good 10 seconds. There is not any attempt to make her nudity seem subtle. There's a series of laughs from the bad guy's tool to subdue his victims, that being a small rubber mallet. See, I grew up around tools like these, and I can tell you that what he used is not threatening in the least. However, every time he hits someone with it (approximately 51 times) the camera focuses on the mallet and plays foreboding music (the best part is at the end when he's waiting at another victim's door). No character does anything to avoid the mallet of doom (or Frank, as we named it), specifically the bad guy's daughter, who says "Daddy?" and stands, waiting to be hit in the head. Much more can be said about this "film," but you really should see for yourself. Ed Wood Reborn

First Mangler movie is not all bad, typical b horror flick nothing special but not that bad. Second movie was bad but one could tolerate it cause you kind of know what to espect from this sort of films. The Mangler Reborn makes no sense, the plot is rubbish and reminds me of a cheap Saw ripoff. Horror films are scary and suppose to be this one is not the least bit scary in anyway, there are few gruesome scenes that are more of bad taste than anything else. I get the feeling that the whole crew of this movie just went through the motions of making it and put minimum effort into it, there is truly nothing good about this film at all. Evil Dead,Bad Taste and the likes of them are great films that i really enjoy, made with a small budget but Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson made them with there heart and soul. Stay clear of this movie and i have learn my lesson and will stay clear if they make another one.
