The only reason I'm giving this a 2 is because of the interesting content that may or may not be real revolving around their interviews with haunted house workers. It's boring, predictable, and I think by now everyone with a clown phobia has made a decision to avoid movies like this, not flock to them. For those of us looking for a thoughtful movie, a scary movie, a movie that you'll look back on the next day and go "Damn, that was good," this is not it. This is lazy, self-indulgent and drags across the screen like the corpse we never get dragged off camera but kind of wish we do, since nobody is the least bit likable. You sit through the end because you think, as with most FF movies, the slow build will pay off. It does not. If you think you can guess the ending, you're probably right, if you're over the age of eight. That's about as much worldly experience you need to call it. You want to be scared sleepless? You want amazing writing and genius use of FF perspective? You want Hell House LLC. That movie kicks this house's butt, on so, so many levels. I watched this thinking I'd get a least a similar thrill ride, and what I got was held hostage on a stupid RV for an hour and a half of my life. Oh, and hey, literally everyone involved with this movie? I also see there's a sequel who's trailer advertises any semblance of what you wanted us to believe about the ending—that right there kills your market for those who you wanted to leave hanging. You guys need to get off this ride before you dig your own grave.

well, the premise is interesting – a group of friends travelling Texas and Louisiana in search of a secret haunted house experience that's supposedly more 'extreme'/scarier than any other. unfortunately the execution doesn't do the story justice the camera never stops bouncing and swiveling like the director is jerking off with it through the entire film. seriously, it's bad even for the found footage style. the first 30 minutes are primarily dull, seemingly unscripted banter between dull, undeveloped characters. i guess the lack of scripted dialogue is meant to add to the documentary-style, found footage presentation, but it doesn't really add anything to the story, and you can stretch it out only so far before it begins to look like obvious filler. edit out all the unnecessary parts of this film and shorten the scenes that drag on to the point of killing all tension, and you'd have a marginally interesting 20 - 30 minute short. i can't imagine why anyone thought it needed a sequel, or who would want to sit through it after having watched this, but i for one will be looking elsewhere for entertainment this holiday season

My quick rating - 5,6/10. An excellent idea by far which is proved since the documentary/horror version of this was screened 4 years ago to high praise. That aside, the premise is simple yet effectively done. A group of people travel around the USA searching for the ultimate haunted house. For those unaware (yes, Australians know little about this), during Halloween people, towns, schools, etc. setup haunted houses with props, effects and people to scare the crap out of you. So, instead of the group following the norm, they are looking for the little town local scares to try and find the "extreme haunted house" In their travels, they start to attract attention of another group that appears to also travel, but are part of these exhibits. The build to the climax of the film is well done, allowing for many scares inside the actual mock haunted houses (which would've been a great movie for 3-D). The movie itself is often dark (go figure) so at times hard to see what is going on but all and all not distracting. The acting wasn't anything special nor really mattered. THe plot itself was driven on just fine and luckily the director did not rely solely on the constant shaky footage crap all the time. A great idea indeed just wish a little more could've been squeezed out of the story itself. Perfect for Halloween and Shocktober.

I was excited going into this film, as I had only heard about the plot and it sounded interesting, like something that would get me excited for the Halloween season, and while it did that, it left a lot to be desired. I feel bad for over-analyzing this film when I saw it, because horror movies will have more flaws than other genres, especially 'found footage' style horror films. The plot is simple; A group of friends go on a road trip in search of the most extreme haunt attraction. They soon find what they were looking for, and things get dark fast. It was an interesting story, but unfortunately the sloppy writing made the film laughable. The acting is okay, but the characters are very cliché and impossible to relate to. The film didn't really establish personalities for any of them, they were pretty much all the same person. I need to feel for characters in horror movies, because it's more effective when bad things happen to them that way. But in this film, I didn't feel anything when the time came. In all honesty, this film was a big advertisement for participating haunt attractions that were featured. The "Blue Skull" thing however, does not exist. (to my knowledge) In the end, it's a fun film and it got me excited for the haunt season. I gave it a four out of IMDb's ten stars. It's a fun film to just have on while you're doing something else, or just to watch with friends. But if you're looking for a scary movie, this is not the way to go.
