The Orphan Killer is a tour de force murder flick that defies classification. It goes far beyond current trends in gore and breaks open a new suffering genre of horror. Marcus Miller is a serial murderer hellbent on teaching his estranged sister Audrey what it means to have family loyalty. His lessons are taught in massive doses of vulgar and unimaginable pain. Throughout her brutal torture we learn that Marcus is not the only Miller with Killer in the bloodline as Audrey proves to be a formidable adversary.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

When I found "The Orphan Killer" I had never heard about it, nor did I know anyone on the cast list. With those two facts, I do like the odds of it becoming something of a surprise, so of course I gave it a watch. And the fact that it being a horror movie just adds to the interest, of course.I managed to watch 30 minutes of this boring movie, and it failed to captivate me or keep my interest in every aspect. Nothing of any value or worth happened to win me over. There were a couple of interesting effects, but nothing that could turn the tide of the losing interest. The movie was riddled with mundane and boring characters, whom lacked depth and dimensions. That sort of thing is something that quickly drains away the will and desire to keep watching a movie for me.I have no intentions of returning to watch the rest of the ordeal that is known as "The Orphan Killer". So a friendly word of advice, stay well clear of this one.

I'm not one to write reviews all the time but after seeing all the hatred spewing forth about what I feel is a truly brilliant movie I had to speak up. I consider this to be the most amazing horror films I've seen in YEARS. As a child of the 80's I grew up watching Jason, Michael & Freddy and to me Marcus Miller is a true equal...& honestly as far as I'm concerned surpasses them. Matt Farnsworth has created a true original slasher icon for the modern age. It's raw, gritty, bloody & violent...what else could you ask for? Diane Foster's acting is truly amazing and she's completely hot as well. The scene in the boiler room with her & Marcus is Oscar-worthy...you can just feel the pain she's going through. & what can I say about Marcus Miller? He has no feelings & no remorse. When he goes in for the kill you know to expect something truly brutal & savage. There is also a complete plot despite what some reviews have said but I'm listing no spoilers...you should totally disregard the negative reviews...watch it and decide for yourself. But I highly recommend it...a true masterpiece of the modern horror genre.

I need to waste as little time on this review as possible since the film wasted 90 odd minutes of my life that I can't get back. This is insulting, dumb, devoid of any suspense with bargain basement gore effects. I really don't understand the hype surrounding it, which was the only reason I decided to check it out in the first place.Every performance is way below par, we're talking porn level performances here folks. The backstory is trite and nonsensical, and the piece de resistance is the "SCORE"A death metal onslaught that is lacking in any feeling, nuance or subtlety . It becomes an assault of the senses and not in a good way.The other tip for the film-makers. If you're going to include obvious stock footage in your film (we've all done it) at least use footage that's the same aspect ratio or size it up accordingly. Sheesh!

The Orphan Killer is without doubt one of the greatest achievements in contemporary horror cinema. Where most films follow a well used u-bend into the horror cesspit this film transcends that and lingers like a great big bushy fly over the excrement. This is the Chainsaw massacre, Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, Lassie Come Home of our generation. But it doesn't just play and pay homage to old films and old themes: this film makes themes! It's a game changer in every way... swapping the baseball for a football and placing a golf bunker where the pitching mound should be. The orphan Killer also serves up one of the sickest scenes to ever get past the censor, two O.A.Ps rimming each other in close up just as the axe falls. It's a scene reminiscent of were Sandy is made to pee herself in Last House on The Left or when Rocky knocks out Apollo Creed to win the world title. This is cinema at it's best and scariest, literally making young guys soil their pants in theaters, at home, in the street, at school, while making out, while beating off... it's one hell of a wild, fuzzed up, horror ride. If there's one film you see this year, whether you like horror or not, The Orphan Killer has to be it... an intense emotional roller-coaster of blood, guts, gore and granny sex... with one of the greatest pay-offs you'll EVER see! Ten outta ten... Go see the movie then buy the book then see the movie again! fantastic!
