It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

While in London, Indian Prince Veer becomes possessed or at least is having bad muscle spasms. While in this state, his wife travels to India to find a Baba who can help. As it turns out, this is a very powerful demon that can only be exorcised by the Baba of Mewar, who happens to be Jai, the former lover of the princess. Their story is complex and twists like a double helix. Let's just say there is a lot of bad blood between the rich princess and the penniless shepherd, ex-con.The film is more like a love story with a demon tossed in. There were two musical numbers within the film, although not the typical Bollywood where everyone stops what they are doing and does a line dance. The special effects were alright, however Veer's possessed squirm I found comical. In fact I found myself laughing at the film more than with it. Way too long, but then what Bollywood film isn't. According to the history of woman's skirt lengths, skirts above the knee were not worn in 1920...just saying.Bollywood production: No swearing, sex, or nudity. Now there was a man reaching for a woman's top, must have gotten within 3 feet of the garb

Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, 1920 London is the third supernatural drama produced by Vikram Bhatt set in that year. The fascination began in 2008 with 1920, which was centred around a ghostly stately manor and an exorcism. In 2012's 1920: The Evil Returns, the director, cast and locations were new, but the story revisited the themes of possession and evil spirits idea. Desai's 2016 film is set between in 1920s London and Rajasthan. However period correctness is clearly not a priority with the filmmaker as we see Shivangi, a royal married woman with her head uncovered in a Rajput court, and gliding around her manor in the UK with her knees and arms exposed. This is a fashion forward Victorian era! If one were to dwell on authenticity, it would be hard to get past the changing length of Sharman Joshi's beard and hair.So let's cut to the plot instead. The life of a happily married young couple in London changes horrifyingly after the arrival of a surprise gift from India. A spirit seeps out and possesses the husband. Shivangi (Meera Chopra) returns to India to seek help as she sees her husband Veer Singh's (Vishal Karwal) health decline dramatically.Fearing that a dangerous spirit has possessed him, she approaches a renowned exorcist. He turns out to be none other than her former lover, Jai (Sharman Joshi). In spite of having been dumped and served jail term because of Shivangi's betrayal, Jai travels to London to save Veer. The story relies on pulling off one major twist, but it's a rather obvious one and once you figure it out the sporadic and half-hearted attempts at grisly, jumpy scares ebb away. A jilted lover with black magic expertise is hardly likely to be a saint.Sharman Joshi tries hard to play menacing, mysterious and repentant but he's just out of step in the part of an exorcist. Meera Chopra is unimpressive as the helpless wife while Karwal spends most of the film lying in a bed being eaten away by the evil spirit.Besides one extended exorcism scene, and the painstaking make-up that shows Veer's gradual degradation by the spirit, this is a drab effort with hardly a shock sandwiched between all the frills, frocks and Rajput finery.Perhaps all the horror there was, has been sucked out of 1920.

1920 London - I had very much made my mind that i will not write any review for this. But then i convinced myself that i have to tell my friends so that they don't waste their money on this. If ask me , i would say that Bollywood Audience must abandon Horror movie to full (for the record i went to watch it on friend's request on his money ). I don't remember when was the last time i had seen a good Horror flick made by Bollywood (may be the first 1920). And seriously saying , in the name of Horror movies they are providing nonsense. OK i will try to keep it interesting. The worst news is that the director Tinu Desai is a really bad director. I mean i didn't find the movie in control of someone , like nobody cares how bad actors are acting or how bad a scene looks. Ques No. 1)And Why This Is The Worst News ? Ans -Because Tinu Desai is also directing RUSTAM starring Akhsay and Illiana and i was really expecting something from that movie. Now my expectations will be low. Ques No. 2) How was the acting? Ans- Bad . Really Bad. You cant imagine this is the same actor who was so awesome in 3 Idiot , Rang De Basanti and Golamaal 1. And shocking last hit of Sharman was 3 Idiot 6 long years ago. Meera Chopda was even worse. She doesn't seem like an actress at all. Lets not discuss about anyone else. Ques No. 3) How were the story , screenplay and dialogues ? Ans - Vikram Bhatt is a decent director but he has never been a good writer. And i don't know why he doesn't concentrate on his directing carrier only . Screenplay along with editing is too bad. There were so long and unnecessary scenes you cant imagine. Let me give you an example. At the very climax our female lead gets a letter of our male lead , she read it , her expression changes , she walks slowly , call her husband , her husband looked at her , she looked at him , she gave him the letter , husband again look at her , then he open the letter and again look at her , then he starts reading again looked at her , then he complete his reading and again looked at her.. Nobody says Nothing and we go to flashback where it was shown that what was written in the letter . I mean that letter reading could have been a less then 2 min scene but i don't remember how long it went. About the dialogues , please someday tell the writer , if your movie is called 1920 London , it doesn't mean that dialogues written seems like have been written that long back. Ques No. 4) Is there enough Horror Sequences ? Ans - R U Kidding Me ? I felt like i just walk out of watching a comedy movie. Ques No. 5) Is anything at all good in the movie ? Ans - Yes Of course , i really liked the costumes of Sharman Joshi. He looked awesome. And for his getup , i will give this movie 2.4/10.. Oh , i forgot to mention , when nearly 3/4 of the movie was finished , i had to shake my friend because he just went to sleep. By ANuP APu KuMaR.

Watched This movie today because of my friend insisted too much.Bad Things of movie -> Ghost is great to play hide and seek and funny more then scary. -> One of the worst direction I've ever seen in my life. -> Bad story line -> Very immature movie mistakes, example, when sharman joshi throws wood block to mirror and it cracks but the locket he threw got passed, but how? -> Bad casting -> Actors didn't know what the acting actually is. -> bad CGI effects. -> sharman joshi doesn't look like mewad wale baba, LOL, c'mon he just look like a young man who can do good comedy but not horror. One more funny moment, when a person (baba) want to control evil spirit, the spirit takes him in the mirror and beats the hell out of him and throws back outside of mirror, Its funny and i liked that scene because of that comedy which was actually should be horror.-> Ghost just fly around. Why ghost took sharman's soul at the end but not anyone else? Hell, sharman could offer anyone else's soul to ghost, This is one more stupid mistake.-> How ghost have the locket back if it was threw in the Thames river? is the ghost scuba diver?-> At first ghost took control of the body of veer singh but later on the ghost was fighting with sharman joshi, basically director thinks that we are stupid, and yes that ghost has a body, lol a soul has a body (in mirror world though) then can we can call her a human?Good Things of movie -> Found none.So in the end watch something else like Tom & Jerry at youtube instead of this shitty movie.
