It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Enter a movie where a father is a loving breadwinner and wants nothing but his family to survive; he's at the helm with making money while his wife works her own job and his two children go to high-school doing the things that children do best. Oh, but there is a strange twist of things – his wife has slept with his boss, whom he feels should give him a raise – he (father) uses her to get information and it goes awry; he finds himself without a job. His son doesn't stand up for himself, his daughter is more flamboyant than he'd care to admit, and he feels that the only way to alleviate this is to have a day off from society out in the woods. This is when the film turns into an exploitation flick as the father slowly gets revenge on his boss and attempts to kill his family one by one. As opposed to just being drama, the film pays little respect to the characterization of the characters and moreso to do with how they attempt to find a way out of the situation or to take care of their attacker; the father seems to treat everything as all well throughout – like he is doing his job. Perhaps that is all he really needed, was a means and motivation to keep him sane and the only resort he could find was the last one – murdering each family member until he is left with himself to do in.The film could have probably been better. It pays homage to 'The Shining' with an out of bounds father that has gone completely crazy and a family that tries to avoid whatever deaths await them. The entire film is spent with them running in circles, attempting to get a phone or car at the ready to alleviate the disaster, and more importantly just how dysfunctional this family is with their bitter remarks and jaded mentalities towards each other. The film does have one crowning achievement – the son finally stands up for himself – his father is face to face with a lawnmower blade before the son decides enough is enough. The tension and suspense built up in the film is staggering and it never lets up, yet sadly it resorts to all too common yelling and slasher antics and executes them poorly. The movie is good if you need something just a bit different.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/?p=3667).

I gave this film a go and was so disappointed. The acting is so bad it's cringe-worthy. You just can't settle into the story and take it seriously. It is almost like the film was made 20 years ago with some guys they just plucked off the street. Shame, because I like to support British films - but this one sucked. In all respects give give the film a go, but be warned.P.S. There also seem to be many fake reviews on Amazon giving it 4-5 stars, the accounts only review this one film - sounds like they tried to beef up the ratings because it is so bad. I have no idea what the budget was on this film but it was money down the drain.

At first I thought this movie was in another language and dubbed in English, nope. The movie was made in the UK, but the sound seems to have been made after the movie… It's somewhat distracting. Once you get over the bad sound timing, then you have to deal with the boring acting and dialog. Even when the movie starts to pick up, you aren't really interested. Its weird because the idea is pretty creepy, but unfortunately this movie can't deliver the scary. Most of the scenes were just weird and the gory parts felt like a really bad 80's movie slasher. I really hate giving negative reviews on low budget movies, but this one was just not very entertaining. Please like me on Facebook! Soooo shocking and at the same time with amusing excerpts. Enjoyable nonetheless. With some suspense loaded into it that keeps you gripped for most of the time. The actors carry the plot-line really well even if there is a little overacting in some places. My only niggle was that it left little to the imagination. However I particularly enjoyed the manic look of "Dad", who relentlessly pursued his revenge on his family, who he perceived to be individually immoral in their own behaviours or nature. Some familiar themes here of every day life that allow us to all identify with, such as adultery, sexuality and of course murder. The death penalty should definitely be brought back for dad, after his slashing antics.
