Five young people wake up dead. Washed up by the tide they scramble to an abandoned beach house, soon realizing that the perpetual night and blasts of pain suggest this is some version of hell. It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

So, just take it that this isn't perfect but neither is almost no film. With that out of the way, this is worth a watch for a variety of reasons. Start with visually pleasing, well shot, engaging throughout, quality acting and a plot that is new.The Sci-Fi content is just in the visuals with the rest of plot devices just fitting in with the story. The story starts quickly and comes to the point smoothly. The group seem very natural with a 4:1 female to male cast that is an irrelevant fact I've used to add some lines to the review.I really enjoyed it and seeing a 4/10 rating nearly put me off. Don't be. Open you browser, Torrent client, Amazon account or whatever and give this one a go.

This Film has Nothing to do with feminism it is just A Terrible Film because it's Story is Awful. The Story is a Big convoluted mess, Five people wake up on a weird Dark Island and have No idea how they got there. This Story could have been interesting But it Went Nowhere and was a wasted opportunity. The Film tried to do one of those we are being Punished for our Sins Stories but it Did Not Work and the way it was Handled was Terrible especially the Ending. In the movie a Stupid Male character goes crazy and attacks some girls and it was Ridiculous and it did not need to be in the Movie,it seemed Pointless, and out of place. I love how one Reviewer tries to make the girls out to be the (Bad Guys) when THEY were the ones that were (ATTACKED BY HIM) NOT the other way Around. That's a really low thing to do because he was clearly in the wrong so why defend him?.Now getting to the scene where the girls Laugh at the guy when he tells them a ghost attacked him.they probably just Laughed because they Thought he was Joking. After all ghosts attacking people isn't exactly something you see every Day is it?. I should Also mention just because they laughed at what he said, that does not mean they Deserve to get attacked by Him, which is what he does Later and he Even SAID to them I'm going to Rape all of you,and he Tried to do it and one of the girls Killed him in self defence. Yes (SELF DEFENCE) which is what the other Reviewer conveniently Forgot to mention in his Review. So much for the Guy being innocent. He just Proved he Wasn't when he Attacked them.I should also mention just because someone is Not Charged with Rape that Does Not make them innocent, the Rape could have still happened, there is just a lack of evidence to prove it.The girl reported the rape but then she took back her statement.Did it ever occur to anyone she could have taken back her statement about rape because she was SCARED of him?.I guess the people defending the guy never thought of that. I thought the Asshole guy was Guilty and that's my Opinion. Also when this Disgusting character attacks all four Girls that just proved that he was a Rapist because you could tell by his actions he had OBVIOUSLY done this before. I would also like to ask everyone why should we feel sorry for the Asshole guy in the first place????.He deserved to get attacked by the Ghost if you ask me. As the saying goes, what Goes around comes around and he deserved it and a lot more too. In my Opinion the guy was Guilty because the Ghost attacked him and That Proved he was Guilty because In the Film it is explained the Ghost only attacks the Guilty people,So The Ghost wouldn't have attacked him for No Reason. This Film has No Likable Characters in it and that's one of the biggest Problems this film has. The Male character was a Violent chauvinistic Pig and there was NO Reason to Like him at all. I don't know about everyone else but I would actually like some Likable characters in my movie so I actually care about what happens to them, but I guess that's too much to ask. This Film is Terrible on so many different levels and This is the Worst Film of 2015 for me. The Acting is Atrocious and the characters are absolutely awful they are some of the Worst characters I have ever seen in a Film. The Story is Boring and Pretentious, the characters are Boring and have No personality's. I was Flabbergasted when I saw that people actually liked this Film, I actually thought I was seeing Things because There is Nothing to Like about this Film. This Film Fails on every Single Level and it Does Everything Wrong from beginning to End. Maybe if the Film had better characters it would at Least be Watchable, but it's not Even That. The writing and Directing are terrible and even the dialogue is Lame. The whole movie is ridiculous and it Makes No Sense whatsoever. This film was so terrible it was Torture to sit through, and I only saw it to the end to see if the story got better,it didn't it just got Worse. Even The Ending is Lame and unsatisfying.I Hated all the characters and I cannot stress how Bad these characters are,Not only are the characters pathetic but they are also Stupid because none of them even try to find a way to Escape and instead they argue and fight most of the Film. The characters should have used their brains and worked together but they don't do this because they are Useless stupid Characters.I was tempted to blow my head off After watching This Film because it is filled with so much Stupidity.I Hated This Film with a passion I thought it was Boring and Stupid and Pretentious, and it has one of the Worst stories I have Ever seen and I Will Never watch this Piece of Garbage Again. I warn people Don't watch This film unless you want to get Angry. Watching the Paint Dry would be more Fun than watching this movie. Also I am a Man not a Woman and Men can defend women too.

I wanted to like this movie, if for no other reason then I spent the better part of an hour and a half watching it. I wont give any thing away, but it had a intriguing premise, Five people in a sort of purgatory trying to figure out how the got there, a fairly spooky atmosphere, eternal night at a deserted beach house. but every time the story could have taken a turn and become compelling it was ruined with some form of cheesiness. All in all it wasn't terrible, but it was far from good. It was disappointing. so I guess if you have nothing better to do then give it a go. but if you are expecting a eye opening experience well this isn't it

After a few days of panels, partying, and Halloween madness at Austin Film Festival I decided that finding a late night film to watch might be the healthiest way to ride out the evening (at least 80,000 masked revelers roam the streets of downtown every year). So I landed on "Afterdeath", a film I had enjoyed the synopsis of, and more importantly, was located 8 miles out of town at the Alamo Drafthouse Village.Upon arrival I was shocked to enter the theater and find only a single seat left! My hopes and expectations immediately rose for the film, as I presumed to have stumbled upon something great. What we have here is a triumph of a film. A wonderful mix of horror, philosophy, and mystery, Afterdeath keeps you engaged, guessing, and eager to discuss how and what every little moment and interaction may or may not have meant to the moviegoer. At the QnA afterward the director who was British answered every question dressed as a backyard wrestling bike messenger which was hilarious, but it was clear from the volume of engaged and intelligent questions that this was a film that had managed to poke the zeitgeist centers of our minds without activating the politic and religion regions. The director answered questions far out into the parking lot, and I would say so much more here about the plot and journey but don't want to taint anyone's experience. Excited for friends to check it out so I can talk to them about it. Best Halloween night I could've asked for!
