In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

This movie is terrible. From what I gather it was never even released. I happened to be shown this by what I thought was a friend. He picked up the VHS tape in a trash bin. Well, that was 91 minutes of my life wasted. Uggh. The soundtrack is really bad. Marisa and Courtney try to the best they can with a crappy script and even worse co-actresses. The story goes nowhere and you just don't really care what happens. Watching that one actress dance around with lipstick and some stupid wig made me cringe. She gives a creepy little troll vibe. I guess this was made in the 80's when anyone thought they could make a movie on the cheap and pump it to the public. This one is so bad, they couldn't apparently get anyone to even release it. Don't waste your time.

The commentator that wrote this is not a good teen movie was right. This is a great teen movie. It does have a plot. A very good one. It is great because it is deep. It shows how the girls slowly get caught up in a world they've never known. As they are losing their innocence, they are gaining strength as young adults. They learn how to face their fears. They learn the real value of friendship. They learn that things are not always what they seem. The movie wasn't written as a comedy. So to say it isn't funny isn't really a valid critique. It has its funny moments, but it is a drama. If this movie were about a group of young men, would we be more accepting? If you can find it, go rent it!

I never saw this movie when it first came out, but probably when I was a freshman in high school in the mid 90s. While it doesn't have the best plot ever, my girlfriends and I watched that movie a lot. It's a little cheesy but it's emphasis is on the friendship of three girls. And they support each other despite flaws and arguments and problems that arise. It's a coming of age movie, that has fairly unknown actresses as main characters, a storyline that's a little unbelievable, but it can be a good chick flick for girls who aren't harsh critics, who can appreciate the very 80s look of the movie, and who can relate to the on the verge of womanhood vibe this movie has. So, while others don't like it, I still consider it one of my favs to come out of the 80s, and a good coming of age movie.

It has been a while since I've seen this movie, but once is certainly enough with this one. 'Welcome to 18' is about a group of girls who head out to a ranch for the summer where they find a bit of romance and also get themselves into a bit of trouble. The movie isn't really all that funny and is pretty stupid even by 80s teen movie standards. There isn't much that goes on in the story most of the time, and when something finally does happen (when there little misfortune arises), it is a little too late. Worst of all, despite the lack of any real plot, the characters are pretty annoying. I'm not surprised you don't hear anything about this forgettable little movie anymore.
