It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

A former geisha girl returns from the grave to take revenge on the servant who drove her to suicide, married her husband, and is trying to kill her son...It starts out like an episode of the old TV series THE NAKED CITY with a deformed narrator telling us there's a million stories in a public cemetery and this in one of them. He says he used to narrate silent films (an old Korean custom?) and his tale plays like one too, laying old-time melodrama on with a trowel. There's murder, revenge, adultery, drug addiction, a girl driven to become an "entertainer", a prison break, eye-gouging, acid to the face, and a vengeful ghost whose grave splits in two so she can ascend to heaven when she's done. I don't know what was going on politically at the time but the ghost's husband was tortured by the police and sent to prison for protesting the Japanese government. It's lunatic sh!t on a low budget with lots of Mario Bava-style colored lights trying to cover a multitude of juvenile sins.

I just finished watching and I must say that despite the due limits the film will enjoy it enough This type generally produced in Japan films, were (and are) in some way their size also in South Korea, although professionally and qualitatively could not (and fail) to match the Japanese colleagues. The Pubblic Cemetery Under the Moon despite the horror context is the predominant one is not only, in fact there's more! There is a good blend of melodrama, surrealism, fantasy and then finish on the typical Asian revenge. Although there are quite disturbing scenes in my opinion the film never does really afraid, even involuntarily tends to carnival, this mainly due to special effects and sound to good. However, despite a slow start The Pubblic Cemetery Under the Moon tents after the first forty five minutes scroll rapidly, it is not a long film, in fact lasts about ninety minutes, with a final expected yet adequate. Recommend the movie to fans of the genre perhaps out of curiosity would like to explore the beginnings or rather the beginning of the Korean horror film but also to those who want to watch a movie unpretentious.
