Exposed (2013)

| Comedy Documentary

Beth B takes us into the 21st century underground and reveals a secret world where cutting-edge performers are taking hold of a taboo art form, Burlesque, and driving it to extremes that most people have never seen. It's satire. It's parody. It's a populist blend of art and entertainment that gives new meaning to the word "transgression." Above all, it's a lot of fun, and it will blow your mind.

It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

Exposed traverses into the hidden underworld of modern burlesque. How this dance of tease and seduction is part of the old school story of telling a story through dance. Exposed also delves deeper into the burlesque perfomers, telling their story, sharing the pains of being outcast but on the stage they find not only a way to share their creativity but also find a community that supports them. This movie is not your typical burlesque movie. Its subjects are both male and female. The streets of the big city are full of misfits but then again normal is only a setting on the dryer. I enjoyed the majesties of this story and the theme of an odyssey of self discovery. Fun, flirty, and full of spunk, Exposed is an adventure. I saw Exposed as part of the 2014 Atlanta Film Festival.
