I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

To start off, I have to say it took a good while for this movie to grow on me. Here's why; The story is really bland. Like really really bland. Not to give too much away, a girl loses her memory and falls in love with a boy, with a twist relating to her memory loss. It is not an outright bad premise, but the way it is handled in the film is rather jarring, which is not at all helped by the fact that some of the acting is at the very least awkward to watch - I can't really tell if it is meant to be that way, since the movie is rather lighthearted for the most part. However, where the movie really shines, is its musical numbers that are either altogether new arrangements or cover versions of famous Finnish songs - and the choreography and camera work that accompanies them is rather impressive. I'm not a professional dancer so maybe I am easy to impress, but the cast in my opinion performs the musical numbers well - and most of them actually perform the vocals themselves as well. As an added bonus, many of the songs and other scenes have artists in background cameos from the artist that made the song or made it famous - try to notice all of them!As far as musicals go, the musical part of this film is solid; I personally enjoyed almost all of the new interpretations of modern classics, the performances are great and imaginative. However, the occasionally bad acting and in my opinion poorly fleshed out framing story drag this movie down somewhat. It is worth watching for the musical scenes alone, and the story sort of grows on you after awhile as well, despite its flaws.
