Wonderful character development!
It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
A boxing movie, overall a decent movie with plenty of drama, but I felt boxing was over-glorified in this film, and it gets very draggy near the ending.I've never thought of Kitano Kii as a good actress nor very cute, but this movie changed my mind. Despite her small frame, she fit the role very well and her moves were pretty cool. Definitely a must-see for her fans. Hayashi Kento's acting was a bit annoying though. The subplot between Oosawa Takao and Sakurai Sachiko's characters was really touching for me. The two veteran actors were very effective as supporting cast.I guess this is a typical Japanese sports movie. Those with interest in boxing would like it.
