Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
The movie builds the bomber well in the beginning. The creators develop and interesting character, and an even more interesting dependent, sickening relationship of his wife towards him. The unfolding of the hostage taking also is well planned. However, the aftermath when the cop goes door to door hearing children's stories of grandma angels made me almost stop watching. It was saccharin with an undertone of Christian righteous I-told-you-so,-god-does-exist-dom. As with Christian rock, if you are a Christian, you will probably like this movie. If you are not, I would spend your time watching something better.
To those who are critical of the religious undertones.TC Christiansen is LDS, and all of his films are or most are of religious nature. If you don't like the religious aspect, better stay away from his movies. I was around these kids age when this happened. I heard there was a lot of coverage in the paper.
I didn't expect anything from this movie and I turned out loving it. I see a lot of negative reviews and it seems to be based upon that it's a true story where people see miracles/angels and their faith is strengthened/validated. If that is offensive, or you think faith in God is absurd- seriously don't watch this movie. If you're not offended by that, enjoy. This is a really great movie about a near massacre that happened in 1986 and I have never heard of it. Just knowing something new in our history is interesting to me. The victims are my age and it's neat to see where they are now and to hear their testimony. If you believe the dozens of eye witness accounts of angels, it really is an incredible story. The acting was good and the story line never lulled. I highly recommend.
I will only comment about the fundamental suggestion of this movie. While I am writing this comment I'd like to remind you of some of statistics as they occur right now worldwide: 786,671,638 people are undernourished in the world, 20,571 people died of hunger today, 6,281,533 children died under 5 this year, 284,103 mothers died during birth this year, 1,389,238 deaths caused by HIV/AIDS this year, 6,787,205 deaths caused by cancer this year, 810,608 deaths caused by malaria this year, 4,131,243 deaths caused by smoking this year, 2,066,926 deaths caused by alcohol this year, 886,198 suicides this year, 1,115,568 road traffic accident fatalities this year, and the list goes on and on and on... I guess they had better been living in Cokeville.
