It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Its is a movie touching you at all levels if you are a regular cine-goer.. the music is fantabulous.. that typical Pakistani Sufi music with a bit of rock and is very beautifully used in the movie.. The superlative direction and Emraan's performance takes this movie to a different level. the character of Shivam which Hashmi plays is similar to but still very different to the roles Hashmi usually plays.. you are enthralled every time he is on screen (which is the entire movie duration) alongwith the sublime background score... Shriya also is graceful and for Mrinalini, well its okay.... The movie has a plot weaved around an outstanding theme and the director has successfully conveyed the message of the movie... the story telling is awesome and you are even more enthusiastic and gripped in the second Half and that climax.. too good... Obviously, its the best work of Emraan and Mohit Suri till date.. All in all an outstanding movie. take a bow Mohit and Emraan.. Fantastic experience watching this movie.

This is an excellent movie. It excels in all aspects of a movie. The direction is stylish and engaging, the acting (especially by Emraan Hashmi as the main lead) is superb, the music is excellent, and the story is realistic dealing with real life issues we have today from a gangsters point of view. Its cinematography was one of the best I've seen. It's very beautiful throughout the movie. Especially during Shivam's introduction and during the songs Toh Phir Aao and Tera Mera Rishta.In terms of acting, Emraan was very intense and deeply embedded in his character. He played a depressed character with a dark past. He fulfills his boss's orders, but is also fearless and full of guts when provoked. He was truly Shivam in Awarapan. This has been Emraans finest acting till date. Shivam's role was meant for him. Ashutosh was amazing as his boss. His looks and attitude fit his role perfectly. The supporting cast, particularly Mrinalini Sharma, Shaad Randhawa, Purab Kohli and Shriya Saran fit their roles perfectly.Music wise, the background score by Raju Singh was brilliant. It was soothing and touches your soul. The songs by Pritam and Roxen were great, particularly Mahiya, Toh Phir Aao and Tera Mera Rishta. Awarapan is a movie that reaches out to you and resides in you. If you love gangster movies (or realistic action flicks) then this one is highly recommended for you. Nevertheless, anyone who enjoys watching good movies should watch Awarapan.All in all Awarapan is a top class gangster movie. Highly recommended.

Wow. That is really all I could say about this movie because, for me, it was amazing. Emraan Hashmi took the character to a whole other level and just performed it flawlessly. I really couldn't think of a better actor to play the part. Ashutosh Rana was also great in the film and came off as intimidating and caring at the same time. Shreya Saran looked gorgeous and was perfect for her role. Everyone else in the film was also very good, but it will take me forever to praise each one individually.So, after seeing this movie, it puzzled me immensely to see that this film was nominated for hardly ANYTHING! Where was the best actor award for Emraan Hashmi? Where were any nominations for the amazing and heartfelt music and lyrics? What makes me really mad about the whole situation is that this movie was so much better than Om Shanti Om, but this movie couldn't be nominated for anything because SRK wasn't in it. And trust me, the Awarapan songs are much better than the Guru songs, so I really don't see what the jury was smoking when nomination time rolled around.Now that I've vented, please see this movie because it is one of the greatest pieces of cinema you will watch.

In order to escape the ghosts of his tragic past, Shivam dedicates himself to serve his gangster boss in Hong Kong with unflinching correctness and loyalty. His boss trusts him enough to ask him to keep an eye on his alluring girlfriend, Reema (Mrinalini Sharma) whom he has kept away from the eyes of his adversaries.Shivam's heart melts on seeing her innocence and vulnerability, as he is able to draw parallels with his girlfriend from the past (Shreya Saran). The atheist turns into a believer and begins smiling and responding to life. Reema gives Shivam reason to believe that she likes him. Existence begins to blush for Shivam but only till the reality dawns on him that Reema has a secret lover tucked away and was planning to elope with him. If anything, 'Awarapan' showcases the acting talent of Emraan Hashmi. The actor steps out of his usual chocolate boy image and plays a very serious and intense role with full conviction. He may not be the deadliest looker around, but he sure does know the art of restraining and underplaying his characters. And his performance in 'Awarapan' proves that he is one of the under-rated talents in Bollywood.Mrinalini Sharma overacts in certain scenes, but manages to play her part fairly well on the whole. Shriya Saran's acting looks very natural. She looks very comfortable playing the brief role she has in the film. Ashutosh Rana is another actor who delivers a superb performance.Mohit Suri succeeds to a great extent in translating an interesting story on celluloid. There are many scenes and sequences (like confrontation between Emraan and Aaliya's father, or Emraan's final sequence with Ashutosh Rana) that are intelligently conceived. The cinematography is visually appealing and the music (by Pritam) is also good.On the whole, 'Awarapan' is worth watching once.
