I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
The acting in this movie is really good.
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
This was perhaps P.Ramlee's last good comedy. I haven't seen anything after this that made much sense, let alone made me laugh. It's should be billed as a dramedy as the humour is very minimal and the drama really heavy. It's a good movie to see the sights of old Kuala Lumpur though.
