The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

I had heard some stuff about his movie as I had heard that it was a bit like the movies "Junk" and "Versus" two other Japanese zombie movies that get kind of crazy. However, this one just did not have the entertainment level of those two movies afforded me and at times I found myself getting rather bored. Perhaps someone with a short attention span can really get behind the rapid cuts and the constant scene switching, but for me the movie just look very sloppily edited. The story is very thin as well, as there are flying saucers hovering everywhere and they are turning people into zombies and a band is trying to repay a debt to a fan of theirs and he is struggling with some romantic interests that are a bit too easily figured out thanks to the introduction to a certain female character. The zombies are a bit of a throwback to the zombies of "Dawn of the Dead" as they all have that bluish look to them. The gut munching is okay too, it is just to bad that there are many stretches where the movie just does not really do anything all that special. The humor was not all that great as "Junk" and "Versus" made me chuckle more than this one did. The film also lacked any really cute female leads which is surprising as they usually have a lot of cute girls in Japan. The only one I thought was rather attractive was the rather chubby one that was with the annoying skinny dude. The music was okay at times annoying at other times, all in all though it failed to impress, but it did not get so bad as to make me want to turn the sound down either. Just seems this movie needs polishing or something, a movie just should not have as many fade to blacks either as it resembled a television movie at times thanks to them. Just a film that needed much work in my opinion.

The action revolves around the Japanese garage punk band Guitar Wolf. A trio of coiffed, leather-bound super cool rockers. Ace, our main character is a wannabe rocker and number one fan of Guitar Wolf. One fateful night he finds himself in the middle of a gunfight between Guitar Wolf and an evil hot pant wearing wigged club owner. Guitar Wolf recognizes the lad as having a heart dedicated to the true spirit of rock and roll and makes him a blood brother and furnishes him with a "wolf whistle" to blow if he is ever in trouble. Trouble comes quickly in the form of UFO's and the living dead. Along the way we meet an adorable transsexual desperate for love and a bad ass female weapons dealer. Featuring guitar picks used like ninja throwing stars, a naked woman blasting zombies in the shower, slicing a UFO in half with a Samurai sword, more exploding zombie heads then you can shake a stick at, and of course, plenty of rock and roll, guitar punk sensibility. To enjoy "Wild Zero" you really have to throw out any misconceptions you might have that a film that suffers from bad editing, bad continuity, and a lack of coherent story could possibly be anything but awful. Wild Zero proves that a film can suffer these slings and arrows and still shine brilliantly. It's all about the Rock and Roll! The music in this film kicks some serious ass! It's just a whole bunch of awesomeness. For some additional fun the DVD includes a drinking game you can play while watching the film. A drinking symbol appears sporadically throughout the film like each time a character drinks, says Rock 'n Roll, or a head explodes. I can only imagine that the addition of alcohol would enhance the experience.

The Beatles had "A hard day's night", the Ramones had their "Rock and Roll Highschool", The Who had "Quadrophenia", and the Japanese rocker Guitar Wolf has this "Wild Zero".Tetsuro?? does not try to fool anyone, "Wild Zero" is a product that's perfect for those who love the dirtiest rock and roll and zombies movies. Guitars, motorbikes and tons of blood!! OK, this film didn't changed for good the history of cinema, but it's so goddamn funny to see the adventures of Guitar Wolf and his partners.*My rate: 5/10----------------------------------------------

Wild Zero is one loud, funny, gory trip through trash-movie-history, and director Tetsuro Takeuchi seems to be a big George A. Romero / Tarantino-enthusiast. While the plot is rather weird (aliens wake the dead, and a shy rock'n'roll boy tries to save his girl out of this zombie mess with the help of the mighty, mighty GUITAR WOLF-guys. Girl turns out to be a boy, too, and Guitar wolf Teshij teaches our hero a lesson:"rock'n'roll has no boundaries! not in gender, religion or race!") the movie is stuffed with quotes from other cool flicks like "the great rock'n'roll swindle", Romero's Zombie-trilogy, from dusk till dawn, mars attacks, and the soundtrack is a nice-bundled package of R'n'R-, Surf,-or Punk Rock-songs making you jump off your sofa and freak out - check out "roaring blood" performed by GUITAR WOLF!! I really liked this movie and wait for the planned sequel......:)
