This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

This movie like its creators sucks. The monster is dollar store predator. And who the hell has a chess board in a survival situation? Also why didn't it just kill him at night?

I thought that the movie was really cool how the thing that was stalking him was copying everything that he did, and I think this movie is very underrated. It was interesting how he was a TV show host and was a survival expert. I really liked it, until all the tension and buildup of the thing stalking him turned out to be some crappy CGI alien thing. I thought that this movie could've been one of the best I've ever seen if the thing stalking him was a crazy guy who has killed anybody who entered the woods. The whole alien thing really ruined it for me and the ending was disappointing, but I still say that you should give it a try and watch it.

If you have not researched this move, then what I am about to post is not necessarily a spoiler. The pacing of this movie was excellent until the last 20 minutes. I thought that the Predator angle on this had already been done by Predator, and Predator was a lot more intimidating. Let's start with the pacing. I thought they nailed the flow of setting up the arc of the movie quite well as the original thought was there was a a psycho out there in the woods. They patiently set up scenes where it may have stayed true to a reality survival TV series. As Doug, the main character discovers that someone is stalking him in the woods, the story takes on a suspense and wonderment into the character of the stalker. Had they continued on this theme this would have been a great movie. As the movie turns and the stalker is revealed in the last 20 minutes, the pacing is thrown out the window and it becomes Predator without Arnold and credible Hollywood action sequences. The alien plays chess with Doug and taunts him. That is never developed and we don't know anymore psychologically about the alien except that they have some control of the earth. It was like they ran out of the budget before they could finish the movie. An interesting glimpse in the psychology of the stalking alien would have made it more interesting, a backwoods psycho would have even been better and would leave a lasting impression and have a greater psychological effect on the viewer

I will admit, I somewhat enjoyed the first 3/4 of this movie. It has a slow build with a few creepy setups, in particular, a scene with a rabbit and a scene with a trap with a large rock meant to kill a human. However, the final quarter of this movie completely ruins everything it had going for it. Once you see the monster, I PROMISE you will laugh out loud and instantly be taken out of the movie. Why not just go with practical effects?! The best way I can compare this movie is a mix of Survivor Man, Predator, and The Blair Witch Project - mostly Predator but a much inferior version. I feel bad for everyone who worked hard on this film (except the SFX department) because it really was 100% ruined by the CGI. If practical effects were used or they did a better job of keeping the "monster/attacker" a mystery, this could've easily been a 7/10.Side note: I think it would've been interesting if they ditched the whole "alien/monster" direction and had one of his crew be the killer. Possibly his brother, as it was hinted at that he was fed up with the host's ego.
