A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

This is not one of the best Hong Kong ghost movies out there, but it is a little entertaining. Eddy Ko stars as Officer Chan, whose past life murdered an aristocratic family. Their ghosts have returned to haunt Chan and seek revenge. It has a pretty intriguing plot outline, but there are the usual silly comedy, goofy gags and funny acting that shadows the horror somewhat. The plot though is pretty steady-paced and you will find the film a little entertaining. It's more sub-par - again, not the best out there, but it's fine to pass the time with.Grade B-

This film is about Officer Chan, who in a past life was a bad person who murdered a family. They are now visiting him in this life to get revenge. Not such a bad premise for a film, but the film just becomes silly, with gratuitous fighting, people being kicked all over the place. As Madam Lee, the always welcome Sandra Ng provides some laughs, but the film is just passable even at its relatively short length, which is a shade over 70 minutes. The special effects are okay, but the film is not worth watching, unless you are a fan of this genre. If you buy the DVD don't read the description, as it tells you the whole story, including how it ends. Not horrible, just not essential.

This is almost as silly as it sounds. The English title, "Vampires Settle on Police Camp", does make sense in terms of the plot. A family of traditional hopping vampires loiter with intent at a police camp where they are looking to take revenge on a police inspector who, in his previous life, was responsible for their deaths. The inspector consults a monk about the problem and gathers together nine people born in the year of the Dragon to take on the hopping irritants. The rest of the movie showcases their battle. There is a lot of situational, parochial humor, and Sandra Ng, as usual, overacts and proves more annoying than the vampires themselves. Ultimately, the lack of budget undoes the illusion and you're left watching actors react to other actors you don't believe in.
