This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

The 3-year-old "Skypemare" is an American 7-minute live action short film from the horror genre. It is probably the most known work at this point by writer and director John Fitzpatrick. But he did a good job here I must say and I am curious about future projects by him. Two friends (both attractive girls, of course, and you see lots of cleavage) use Skype and one sees in the television that some serious criminal managed to escape. Quickly afterward, she sees a shadow behind her friend on the camera. When she tells her friend, she goes looking and gets attacked. Not long after the alleged killer keeps sending images of body parts via Skype. But the real horror is yet to begin. I must say that I was not really scared watching this little movie, but I was very much entertained. I guess it also was not really Fitzpatrick's intention to scare people here with the ending he went for. What do we learn from this one? Always know your best friend's address. Or at least be able to find it out quickly. This was a solid little watch. I suggest you check it out.

There's no doubt that the two main characters being super hot and flirty is just to distract from the clichés to follow. While Skypemare may have one hell of a cheesy title, it does deliver in the horror aspect, albeit in stereotypical and predictable ways. Someone being grabbed by an unknown intruder on the other side of a Skype call is far from original, but I think you'll find the idea is driven home with above average acting, high- budget filming, and quality special effects. But with an idea so dull it's hard to give Skypemare a decent mark, if one thing can be said about Skypemare's originality it's that it did manage to put it's own twist on the Skype call gone wrong shtick by having the intruder send her pictures of what is happening on the other side of the call, as a way of enticing and torturing the main character, giving Skypemare a chilling mood about it. Also has a decent and actually unexpected twist at the end; it's worth 8 minutes of your time.

Horror hottie Cerina Vincent stars in this entertaining short as busty babe Alison, who, having been dumped by her boyfriend (as if!), is spending Halloween night at home alone, Skyping her best friend Jenna. While chatting away, Alison notices a shadowy figure moving in the room behind her friend. Could it be the escaped maniac she saw on the news earlier? After Jenna goes to investigate and is suddenly grabbed in the dark, a terrified Alison calls the police, but while she is on the phone, the killer sends her a series of grisly images via computer...Skypemare is eight minutes extremely well spent: the lovely Ms Vincent impresses with her acting ability (as well as with her obvious physical attributes), John Fitzpatrick's writing and direction are as taut as his star's vest, there a few well executed shocks with a little gore, and a cruel twist that leaves Alison in dire need of help herself rounds off matters very nicely indeed.
