The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Being a fan of all things zombie, I had to give "Dead Men Walking" a go, despite the really crappy DVD cover. I bought the movie off Amazon, and it had what looked like a scorched zombies with broken teeth in its mouth on the cover. Looks really cheesy, so I didn't have any particular high hopes or expectations for the movie."Dead Men Walking" should have been named "Dead Men Running", because the zombies in this movie are fast and agile, running around like the ones in "28 Days Later". Personally, I am not really a fan of having the living dead running around. But hey, it is all a matter of preference. There is a lot of action in "Dead Men Walking", right from the very beginning. However, the movie is built on a fairly weak plot, so don't expect any real brain-twisters throughout this movie. It is basically your average zombie outbreak in a small restricted area. The ending of the movie, however I will not reveal it here, was actually a nice turn of events. That was one of the better things in the movie. Also, there is a tendency of not showing zombie children and the gorging of children flesh in most zombie movies, though there is some in "Dead Men Walking". So that was a nice change of pace. I mean, why should children be spared when adults aren't? And this is a movie after all, it is all make-believe.The movie actually surprised me, because of all the action and the gore. Yeah, there is a great amount of gore in the movie, so you gorehounds out there will be pleased, I am sure. The action and the gore more than makes up for the lack of a solid plot in the movie. However, one thing really annoyed me, and that was the poor lighting in the movie. It reminded me of something that was shot on VHS and then transferred directly to DVD. The lack of proper lighting in most scenes made the movie appear more amateurish than it actually was."Dead Men Walking" is actually one of the most fast-paced and adrenalin-filled zombie movies I have seen in quite some time. The acting in the movie, well that was not really something to give high praises about. Some people did good enough jobs, while others, well...If you like zombie movies with fast pace and gore, then "Dead Men Walking" is well worth checking out. However, just don't expect top-notch million-dollar budget production here.

I want the hour and a half of my life spent watching this back. Horrible acting, horrible sound dubbing, randomly added characters which made no sense. Its nice that the director cast his girlfriend as a leading role, but make sure she has even the slightest ability to act. Add on top of that the same rerun action scenes to fill any and all boring and plot lacking scenes. The main question is why? Why give money to make a horrible film like this when I can make more quality cinema on my camera phone. Why was a random Hispanic family living in a maximum security prison? Why was a random inmate having a intimate visit in a broom closet that no one seeming knew about? Where we supposed to be moved by the melodrama of the preacher suicide? The best part of this film? The credits...why, because of the symbolic message that it was finally over and I could stop beating my head against a wall. The most important question? Why did I even bother to watch this entire movie and not switch channels to watch Richard Simmons infomercials?

Dead Men Walking seems like an ideal title for an undead flick... OK its pretty bad actually, filmed in GREEN-O-VISION, or maybe with expired Kodachrome film. Turn your color down and it bumps it up a star. While it doesn't help the acting or all the water balloon splattering sound effects, I guess you could turn the sound down also, and overdub your own sound. Sound of Music might go well with it. This could make a pretty good undead musical.(Hey don't steal my idea.)The bottom line is, if all the annoying slow motion & vomiting don't get to you, if your reallllly bored and there's nothing but infomercials on...this will pass the time.

Man this movie was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life! Granted, I didn't expect much from this movie when I rented it, but I expected more from this piece of crap! The plot made no sense and the directors have no shame whatsoever. What a family was doing just sitting around in a maximum security prison doing nothing made no sense whatsoever. However, when the guard turned, I figured the screen going black was sufficient and we could just assume what happened. They didn't need to show the kids getting killed. That was ridiculous. When the movie went back to that family, what was the mother still doing holding the kids' hands?!?! This is worst low budget movie I've ever seen in my life and if you watch this waste of film, you'll probably want to commit suicide because you'll never get that part of your life back....EVER
