A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

The first bit of the film was fine... but when the kids look normal, family hugs them and the black fingernails kills them - that was rather lame... so I was bored with this one.Apparently, the radioactive smoke they drove through didn't effect the woman in the red car nor the bus driver that drove through it with the kids... only the kids kill and must have gotten the bus driver from the looks of things. Of course the woman in the red car had to have a black fingernailed baby in the end.If this one would have been exciting or something sinister about the children other than those black nails then I would have like this one a little bit better - but as it is, it's just boring.2/10

Well I liked the concept of kids turning into some kind of zombies by some mysterious cloud. But that happens without any build-up and they go on to kill the annoying adults. And yes since all performers in the movie go without character development I couldn't really be bothered if they lived or died in the end. I'm trying to think if this movie has any redeeming qualities. Well yeah the kids were threatening and instead of actually biting their victims like zombies do, they burn them by touching them. It would have been nice there was some actual cure for it, rather than going for the easy way by chopping their limbs of. It was an original idea but the execution was done in such a cheap way hoping to cash in quickly on the zombie craze.

A nuclear-plant leak turns a bus-load of children into murderous atomic zombies with black fingernails. The trouble begins when a school bus filled with kids passes through a giant radiation cloud. The kids vanish without a trace and return soon as smiling,black-fingernailed zombies.Their hugs becomes deadly to some unfortunate adults, who are fried. The town sheriff and one of the fathers are starting to fight with radioactive killers.Silly and amusing zombie romp with a competent Harry Manfredini score. The scenes of children murdering their parents are fairly creepy and the climax is surprisingly unsettling and tense.Admittedly the plot is ridiculous, but if you are a fan of early 80's slasher and zombie flicks you can't miss "The Children".8 out of 10.

Yes, this movie was one I saw a lot of as a kid, does not get any play now however. I am sure you can find it floating around on the Internet, or maybe at amazon, but the type of channels that would play this one just do not exist anymore. Now you are lucky to find a channel that plays something that was made two years ago and does not consider that to be a classic. I digress, this movie was somewhat enjoyable for me when I watched it. Granted the whole premise of the movie is totally unbelievable, but that is what makes a horror movie fun. Though a supernatural cause always works better for me, than what we have here, the deadly chemical. For some reason deadly chemicals in movies cause strange reactions in movies...rather than just kill they mutate or cause a person to go insane, or mutate and go insane! Here, it causes children on a bus to become silent and want to reach out and hug everyone around them. It also gives them black fingernails too, sounds harmless enough, however, when these children hug you it means death! Yes, there is reason to fear your child's hug in this movie as people caught in these kiddies clutches die in a somewhat gruesome way, though they could have made it worse and better. Still, interesting enough movie, rather straight horror movie and I think it is a Troma movie, so it proves they could make a somewhat good horror movie without being incredibly stupid if they tried.
