One of my all time favorites.
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Very, very beautiful, superb colors and all of outfits. Nice acting and really strong atmosphere. All this movie needed to be great is little more... contents. For now it remains me hollow Kar Wai movies, full of smoke and background music. Yes, it IS very Chekhov's mood, but not for cinema, i suppose. Movie must be moving. If just a little bit more. Characters should not only watch at each others emphatically and walk sometimes, but do something with the plot. And now I could tell all the script in three sentences (accordingly to three parts of the film). Brains are starving. Also some unconvincing behavior, too impulsive and fickle. Though traditional for 'classic' literature overall. In short, finished frame for outstanding masterpiece. 7/10
