Good movie but grossly overrated
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
if only rico yan didn't die young. this picture showed judy ann in all her "baby fats" splendor but looking like a beautiful ingenue. as she grows older she becomes lovelier than ever. this is a heart-gripping tale of two sweethearts who were separated by circumstances but managed to end up together in the end, as in most pinoy feel-good movies.there are so many what could have been in this screen couple's roads but in the end fate intervened with rico's shocking death and the planned reunion in the film "isusumbong kita sa tatay ko," is put back in the drawing boards with a different love interest for judy ann.
