Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Wow, what a refreshing movie! What carried it to the end effortlessly is its truly original scenario. I doubt anyone will say they've seen something similar. But the greatness of this film is not just its originality (sometimes reinventing the wheel does not guarantee success) but its touching protagonist. We follow him throughout the film, trying to find his voice. This is a discrete movie, that will let you seep into this young man's life and his Lebanese family (set in Montreal). I found that it surprised me with laughs when I least expected them. There were also a lot of moments without dialogue, which gave us the chance to enjoy the beautifully shot scenes.
