Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

I thought this was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I absolutely love Michael Shanks and thought he was fantastic. I think the one that played Amanda was beautiful and played her part very well

Having lost someone to the "Bush Lie" I found this film to be deeply insensitive to people like me who have lost someone to the war. This film makes it look like Veterans families don't mind that their spouses go off to war. It makes everyone look like we don't question the reasons "why"? The story line of the Veterans Museum is also one big joke! Also the fact that the main character doesn't have a problem going back to a war zone (After Alll He Will Be Killing People) because he wants to be with his troop friends. I know this is a Hallmark Movie and they will not do anything that will "Rock the Boat" but glamorizing war is just "State Run Television". If that confuses you "Look it up". In general this film made me sick!

When you tune into a Hallmark movie, especially a holiday one, you have to know what you're in for. That said, Christmas Homecoming had a bit of a different feel to it, due to the very real military subject matter. Two years ago, Amanda lost her husband while he was serving overseas. While she happily stands by her sister and other military wives in the town and works for the town's military museum, she struggles to move on and has lost the Christmas spirit she once felt. Enter Jim, a military Sergeant who is recovering from an injury and rents a room from Amanda. While Jim helps Amanda with a fundraiser to save the museum and regain her holiday spirit, she helps him with the guilt and responsibility he is feeling for a few of his fallen comrades. Some would have cast younger actors, but military members and widows come in all ages and Benz and Shanks are believable in their roles, particularly in a few very moving scenes. They definitely had a sweet chemistry that shows both in the movie and BTS footage. In the end, this is still a Hallmark movie so the end results are a bit rushed and predictable. I also would have liked more backstory on Jim. But rarely has a Hallmark movie been so moving without being overly sweet and saccharine. Definitely will watch this one every holiday season.

Both of the lead characters play the parts of war-torn lost souls. The story is that of a fairy tale which tells the rest of us to keep our hearts open even when it hurts. This is not a story about Christmastime, only, but one of lost love and finding one's way. Yeah, the Grinch which wrote the bad review is certainly an evil troll looking for love in all the wrong places. Just give the movie a try and see that not everything about the world is bad.
