Simply Perfect
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
20 minutes before the end, the big conflict happens. No fear, all ends well. The cast is OK, nothing bad or that special either.
Skip This.Small town girl falls for guy then finds out he's a prince.
I watched this movie with my family this Christmas and we all regret it. It was a very simple movie: You can literally predict everything that happens after only watching 10 minutes. If you are above the age of 10 I would not recommend watching this movie.I thought it was very unrealistic how they handled all their problems and some things were just too easily ignored, while we were all sitting here like "What are they doing? Why is nobody noticing/commenting on this?" Another thing that really bothered me (although I know that it sounds superficial) was the height difference between Amber/Martha and prince Richard. She literally looked like his little sister. It really could have been better casted if you'd ask me. I decided to give this a 5/10, because I can understand little kids might enjoy this movie. So if this movie is meant for children (which I assume it is), it's entertaining and doesn't deserve a horrible grade, although it's still not a high quality movie.5/10. -Imme van Gorp
This might as well be a Hallmark Movie of no particular note. I almost suspect it is kind of a gentle spoof of all the Hallmark Christmas move cliches. Snowball fight, hero falling on heroine in the snow, Reserved serious mother/queen unbending, child in the house who starts out as a spoiled brat but turns into an ally of our heroine. I liked the two main leads all right and did enjoy seeing Alice Krige. Maybe I am giving Netflix too much credit and it's just another in a long line of mediocre Christmas romances. It has no reason to exist.
