Bhoothnath Returns (2014)

Admirable film.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Tone, Script & Story: The story is how a bhooth (ghost) returns from bhooth world to India seeking second chance to fright people. One thing leads to another and the bhooth now is contesting for elections. I liked the script which highlights a dharavi child able to see this ghost followed by elements requirements to be a lok sabha election candidate. The story highlights and follows factors related to election, mafias involved along with other type of candidate's. It shows why voting is important, what happens and what could happen.Direction, Screenplay, Cinematography: The locations consisting of under construction buildings, local slum, media and its components all stand justified.Music: I would rate it as 'good'. My favorite track is 'Sahib'. Acting: One of the main reasons I like this movie is because of work done by 'Akhrot'. Other actors have acted really well too.Final Verdict: What requires a ghost to stand in election followed by his companionship with a boy from slums is all a treat to watch.

I was surprised to see that the sequel to the original 'Bhoothnath' was such a powerhouse of great writing, social conscience, great acting by the kid actor (as well as Boman Irani and Amitabh), and an interesting plot and pacing. As with typical Bollywood films, a suspension of disbelief is required, but this film actually requires less of that than some of the typical romance films where the characters do illogical things at unreasonable times. Each character in this film reacts reasonably to their own situations for once in a Bollywood film. Even the songs were good and reminded me a lot of the original "Annie". This movie has a lot of heart, but doesn't go overboard with the schmaltz. It's about social ills such as corruption and lack of community participation in trying to fix it, but not at all depressing. Feel free to skip the first fluffy film since the back story isn't relevant to the enjoyment of this infinitely better movie.

The film's good bits, however, often feel squashed under the weight of its melodrama and its bloated running time of 2 hours and 35 minutes. There is some lofty sermonizing by at least two different characters, and an over-manipulative song-montage of abject poverty that attempts to squeeze a lump out of your throat. Despite the uneven writing, the film works because it has heart. While the first half is breezy, with several pleasurable moments and witty one-liners laced into the proceedings, the film does a U-turn in the post-interval portions. The goings-on, all of a sudden, turn serious, while the humor goes missing. On the whole, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS is made with noble intentions and the message it conveys resonates in the second hour, although those looking for entertainment may find it lacking in the second half. Watch it for some wonderful moments and superior performances by Bachchan Sr., Boman Irani and the child artist Parth Bhalerao.

A very nice motive to the peoples..... A good start to the movie with an exciting imagination carried on by cheerful and new concepts which gives it a great shape... as we know.. its a BACHCHAN movie and always worth a watch.. this time with boman irani on the villains side makes it more exciting... A full to time pass movie to watch with the families.... A great entertainment... and i loved the kid for his awesome acting... The movies release in election time makes it more catchy..... So...After u have watched the movie.... make sure u VOTE from next year..!!make sure u watch it............
