It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
I watched this film at the Doorpost Film Project's web site and the film is one of this year's finalists. For the most part, I really liked it. Of all the films I have watched there so far, this one has the best cinematics--and as a result is about the most professional looking films. The combination of emotive music, nice camera-work and direction make this film really come to life. My problem with the film, however, is the story. While I don't want to reveal too much, I just found it very, very hard to believe that a Confederate soldier would do what this one did in the film. Still, if you can look past this, it's a dandy and very striking film--one well worth seeing. I can't wait to see more work from the people that made this one.
