The Worst Film Ever
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
This film from Hong Kong is quite unusual. It blends a typical police action story with a classic horror plot about possession and vengeance of the dead.A police officer kills two criminals from a gang of three during a police action. The killed thugs are twin brother and sister. The officer's kids are twins too - a boy and a girl. As time passes, strange things happen, it seems as if the twins try to kill their father. They are possessed by the spirits of the killed twin thugs, and they are out for revenge. The situation becomes really dangerous for the officer, when the third thug escapes from prison and goes for vengeance too. This fast paced mix is highly entertaining throughout and has no boring moments. Also, it boosts some extremely violent and well handled special effects that will satisfy every gorehound. Needless to say: the action sequences are top notch, as one always can expect from a Hong Kong film. The only flaw comes at the end of the climax - which I won't give away her. The climax as a whole is highly energetic and boosts terrific action. All in all, "Vendetta" is another example of unique Hong Kong cinema that is worth checking out for all fans of Asian cinema and horror buffs.
