Good Game Season 5

It’s the end of the year which means it’s time for a Christmas special! Along with handing out our yearly best of awards we find time to review a heap of games, including Left 4 Dead 2, Lego Rock Band, Band Hero, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, The Saboteur, Rush Rush Rally Racing, Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues & The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Phew, that’s a lot of games! Plus, Rei investigates how gaming can be the greatest gift to those in need, and we take a look back through the past decade of gaming!

We review the follow to one of Hex’s favourite games, Assassin’s Creed 2, and look at Sackboy’s portable outing in LittleBigPlanet for PSP, plus round up a whole bunch of singing games like Singstar Motown, Singstar Take That, and U-Sing. Plus, we go Backwards Compatible with games that let us be bad and meet another of Australia’s best gamers, Phil Day, the world Galaga champ!

What a huge week for games with blockbusters Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Dragon Age: Origins up for review, along with family friendly classics New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time. Plus, Rei takes a look at the rise of digital distribution and how it’s changing our gaming habits.

Hex and Bajo fight it out in their review of Tekken 6, and spin some records in DJ Hero. Plus, they interview Dr. Greg Zeschuck from BioWare about Dragon Age: Origins, and Rei investigates Virtual Simulator Sickness, the unfortunate case of people getting motion sick playing games.

Bajo and Hex head to the Bordlerlands to review… Borderlands, plus reviews of GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, Cities XL & G-Force. We also have a cheeky round of golf with Matthew Reilly in a Roffle Cup, and dive into the history of Simulator games.

In this episode we welcome Hex to the show and throw her in the deep end with reviews of Forza Motorsport 3 and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Plus, Rei investigates the 400 Project from game designer Noah Falstein, laying down the 400 rules of game design.

Things get a bit metal this episode in our review of Brutal Legend, and we check out Gran Turismo for PSP, Lucidity and Beaterator. Plus, we go Backward Compatible on the history of stealth games, and visit another of Australia’s best gamers, Rodney Day, the man who holds the record for holding a record the longest!

This episode we check out one of the best action games of all time, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, plus FIFA 10 and Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. Plus, Gabe Newell came to town and we followed him and a persistent modder who demanded Gabe check out his mod!

Bajo and Junglist review the ambitious MMO Aion and Professor Leyton and Pandora’s Box. And speaking of Pandora, they check out an early version of Borderlands. Plus, Rei checks out the Eminence Orchestra and the importance of music in games and we dive into the history of boss battles.

We burn some rubber in our reviews of Need For Speed: Shift and Dirt 2, plus reviews of Scribblenauts & Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Plus we visit Jono Pearson, Australia’s fastest Tetris player!

Bajo and Junglist drop down to Earth to review the Halo spin-off Halo 3: ODST, plus the plastic smacking juggernauts Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band get smacked with some rubber chickens, as does some Mini Ninjas. Plus, we chat to Charles Martinet, the voice of all things Mario!
