I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

Norma (Hiltz) is a pretty blonde who wants the hell out of her trailer park life and sees her boyfriend as the one to save her from it. When he is brutally impaled by some of the trailer parks redneck lowlifes Norma snaps and leaves. She runs into the Devil (Trace Adkins) on the way out of town who encourages her to get her revenge. Norma returns to fill everyone full of holes and blows the place up along with herself. Jump some years in the future when a religious leader and his teenage group land in the trailer park to find Norma and the sicko rednecks back from hell to terrorize them. Director Steven Goldmann lets it all hang out in this never to be taken seriously horror show. Every character is a cliché even though you do feel bad for Norma in the beginning. There isn't a sympathetic character around and everything is disgusting, dirty and filthy which is apparently how Goldmann wanted it. The story makes little sense and the film makers and writers don't seem to care. Plenty of gore, blood and sickening sleaze are on display but of course none of it is scary or suspenseful. This is a distasteful film that is meant to be just that. There are some horror fans that may enjoy the grimy proceedings and the over the top mean spirited characters, but others will find it a chore to sit through. Which one are you? Identify and either skip it or look forward to it.

All "Norma" (Nichole Hiltz) wanted was a chance to get out from the trailer park she lived in and start a new life with her boyfriend. But when he comes to visit her, he is accidentally killed by the trailer park ruffians and she believes that her chance is gone forever. The devil then appears and convinces her that she can have revenge on those who took away her golden opportunity in exchange for her soul. So she accepts the weapon the devil gives her and kills all the residents of the trailer park. After that she burns the trailer park down and kills herself. Many years later a church van full of troubled young adults gets caught in a storm and comes to a stop near that same trailer park which has mysteriously reappeared. And Norma is there to greet them. Anyway, rather than reveal the surprises which follow I will just say that this was a surprisingly good movie which contains both horror and gore in equal measures. It also has some very dark humor throughout, along with some very graphic scenes which might not appeal to those unaccustomed to a violent gore-fest of this type. The fact that it was nominated for a "Fangoria Chainsaw Award" in 2009 should be a clear indicator that this film is definitely not for the squeamish.

I don't know why some people watch horrors expecting them to have the best actresses, actors, story lines, special effects etc. There are many low budget (or non blockbuster) horrors that far surpass their huge budget/blockbuster counterparts - which often turn out to be a "flop". This is one of these films.By all means if you only like psychological thriller type horrors, this is not the film for you. If you are a true horror fan and can appreciate a horror film on the "horror" alone, you'll most likely quite like this one. The acting was pretty good, the storyline is perfect imo (not too detailed enough to detract from the gore/terror and not too weak that you want to smack the TV) for the type of film it is, effects are actually really good imo. This is quite simply, a film that does not get hung up on trying to appeal with a love story or some amazing intricate storyline that bends the viewers mind. Do not mistake this for a bad thing. I was expecting a much lower quality of film and while I wouldn't rank it as one of the best horrors, I certainly found it enjoyable to watch, especially once it really got into it (not including the opening scene as I found that easy to watch also). And personally, the songs throughout it I thought were really good too - even if they're not what I would listen to, they were perfect for this film.

Plot: After a pointless first ten minutes that made no sense we move to the same old plot we always get; ie a bunch of young people are stranded outside a trailer park where they seek shelter, and in a night of unimaginable horror one by one they find that not all is as it seems.Dun-Dun-DUNNNNNNNNN!!!! Budget: Even more inexplicable, this looks shiny and new. You can actually see that they have spent money polishing this turd. What was so horribly wrong then Smart-Guy? Aside from the generic clichéd plot. The lack of laughs. The general inanity of proceedings. The fact that I swear the lead chick was Jamie Pressley from My Name Is Earl and I still refuse to believe it wasn't even though the DVD cover and IMDb beg to differ.Nothing, this was just greeeeeaaaaaaattttttttt.Final Rating – 4.5 / 10. Bad paint by numbers exercise, bet Jamie Pressley is happy she wasn't in it.If you liked this review (or even if you didn't) check out oneguyrambling.com
