Escape room is not a good movie but i have seen worst. With some tweaks it could have been a tad better. The characters are shallow and unlikeable. I got a serious problem with one of the puzzle which only could be solved with very specific knowledge. The movie overall suffers from illogical choices made by the director / script writer so dont waste time on this movie and watch something good.

As the title of the movie suggests and the boxart hint at, the movie is about a group of friends who participate in an Escape Room, an activity where a person/people are tasked with solving a series of puzzles before the time limit runs out. Of course, it turns deadly, but not any more interesting or thrilling. As I mentioned, this has Saw rip-off written all over it. That doesn't automatically disqualify it from being good. It's nowhere near as bad as anything from the Asylum or Video Brinquedo, but it's hardly up to snuff. The characters aren't cliched, in fact they don't have any real characteristics. There are only two in the cast with any actual acting chops, were Annabelle Stephenson who plays a decent ice queen and Evan William's smart guy who slowly becomes more unraveled. Not at all Oscar-worthy performances, but not really Razzie material, either. There is some decent gore in the few scenes that it actually happens, but that's really all the movie has going for it. The games don't even have the philosophical weight or complexity to them like the Saw movies. It's worth a watch and it's mercifully short, 80 minutes.

There are two films out with the same title. The other film is directed by Peter Dukes and involves a more traditional "escape room." Three couples who know each other very well decide they are going to enjoy an upscale escape room. Christen (Elizabeth Hower) is separated from the group who are having fun solving puzzles that tended to be tougher than most escape rooms. And then the fun and games stop and they realize they are risking their lives. The film had some interesting moments watching them solve the puzzles. The production needed another scene or two to establish character and introduce multiple motives and decent back story. DVD includes bloopers, deleted scenes, director commentary.Guide F-word and Nudity (Elizabeth Hower)

This is "The game meets "Saw", but not in a good way. Characters are cardboard, no back story. The only true performance that merits attention is Natasha" she carries the movie. The lead did a semi good job making the audience "hate him" but doesn't have that "it" factor to be a lead. The beginning seemed like the writer didn't quite know how to start with the story, but seemed to pick it up (a tiny bit) toward the middle but get writers block at the conclusion. There is lee way for a sequel, but I escaped and I'm not going back.
