I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

*Deep sigh*This is BAD! I'm just watching this in 2018. I can't blame the awfulness of this on the chance that it's aged badly - its just BAD. Bad in 2006 and BAD now.I watch well-written "urban" French and American films all the time and they don't age as badly this.Is the excessively unrealistic amount of swearing supposed to cover up the bad acting and threadbare "story"? Because it didn't work.Terribly casted, terribly written, terribly acted, abysmally directed. It's a shame that Britain just can't do "urban" films correctly. This film is worse than any review can convey.Everything Noel Clarke does is BAD.

As a film buff I rate this as a well edited, pacey, incident filled and coherent 90 minutes that is deservedly a commercial success. As a Londoner I recognise that it provides a welcome break from the light comedy romance featuring toffs in very nice houses style of cinema we have seen too much of. Some of the characters and the situations reminds me of my own days at an inner-London comp. The film works and justifies itself by this alone, but I could not help wishing for more. The main characters are either victims, psychos, bastards, saps or stupid. Its the same for its sequel Adulthood. The audience this film is aimed at (the same ones in the film) could do with something a little more aspirational, a little more ambitious. Noel Clarke after having written and starred in the film has escaped the dead end lives of the people he writes about, so he should offer the audience some hope too.

OK I'm not British, and I may not understand European works of art, but what the hell was this? I saw this on a related video search in YouTube. I was like, "I watch a lot of American hood films, let me see what British chavs do". I feel like I'm wasting my time reviewing this, which I am.I had a headache watching this film. Yet I continued watching it hopefully thinking somehow that the dialogue would calm down, but it didn't. Every other line was 'Whanjasldfhn hsdnaksn, blah!" or "Awghjugnjjv, blah?'.Are kids in England that angry? For no reason? I guess I would be angry too if I lived in a nice house under a generous welfare system and the NHS.And I have to hand it off to the white kid. He is seriously the most annoying character ever made. Yeah, Jar Jar Binks and Short Round have competition. If this was supposed to be an English Boyz N The Hood, it isn't. If it's supposed to be an angry work of art, it's not.

this is a great movie and powerfully captures every aspect on the harsh territory of the area and people that are changed by it i know this was based in London but it happens everywhere and just seems to expand as years go past kids change though experience that are normally from abuse or bullying which make them pretty much the same and so on it just how it is i grew up in the western part of Sydney (western suburbs) and it was way worse there don't wanna go into the details but great movie a much watch..... ............ ......... .................... ........ ........ ................. ........... ............... ............................................. ....................... .............................................. ...................... ............................................. ............ ............. ...........................................
