The NeverEnding Story (1984)

Nice effects though.

Good concept, poorly executed.

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

This movie I watched when I was very young and shed some tears and still get emotional now but it is a legendary movie and is well worth it

Bastian is a young boy, still recovering from the death of his mother. His school work and extramural activities are suffering and he is being bullied by a bunch of young louts. One day, while trying to escape the bullies he finds shelter in a book shop. He borrows a certain book, The Neverending Story, and reads it in the school attic. He soon finds himself immersed in a fantastical world...A fairly conventional children's fantasy tale. Pretty much a join- the-dots adventure story set in an imaginary land, complete with wizards, dragons and similar things. I was hoping for an enchanting, engaging story but this is pretty much plot-driven, and its just your usual made-for-kids rambling plot.Special effects look dated now but were probably quite good for their time.Has its moments but mostly quite dull. Kids should love it though.

not the best adaptation. but useful one as beautiful invitation to discover the book. because, far to be the most inspired, it preserves the spirit and the delicacy and the pieces of unique images from a book who remains, for many of its readers, real special. and this is the most important thing in this case. to remind fundamental values. to rediscover great characters. to redefine small things. to preserve the magic of childhood. it was one of the first films viewed by me after the 1989 Romanian revolution. and, after 27 years ago, it remains more than a beautiful memory, associated with the freedom, it is one of the most accurate definition of it. so, a beautiful film. maybe, useful for its young public.

Die Unendliche Geschichte is a great fantasy film is a great adventure , nostalgia was part of the childhood of a lot of people , the cast is competent , even the not film with spectacular performances , it has convincing performances , Barret Oliver , Noah Hathaway , Tami Stronach Patricia Hayes , Moses Gunn, etc. , the visual effects are good , obvious that some moments are well exceeded more is done well , even with 1984 visual creatures is very good, the dragon is well done , so it's kind of weird when he returns , has very good moments , have a moment more or less in the middle of the film, a little sad, the direction of Wolfgang Petersen is good, the soundtrack is cool, even I not enjoying the music in the credits initial and final Unendliche Die Geschichte is a good fantasy film , full of good times , ask the script , and the acting is not very strong point , more is recommended.
