It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

I'll start out by saying that this movie is not really worth watching. It's too bad because of all the great actors and actresses in it but it's just boring and doesn't provide any sort of joy. I'm not sure who wrote the movie but it appeared as though there was very little effort put into it. My kids didn't like it as well so I'm not really sure who the target audience is. Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi are great actors but this just wasn't meant to be, they look out of place and are not very convincing that they are magicians. The only reason this movie was not an utter failure was because of Jim Carrey. Now this wasn't a Jim Carrey classic performance but it at least injected some comedy into a rather unfunny movie otherwise. I had high hopes seeing all the great actors in this movie but it was truly a dud, one that i will likely never watch again. 5/10.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is not really a bad movie if you can get through the fact that the entire film itself is basically a magic show, but that being said, this is still a pretty funny movie that has plenty of well-timed jokes, lots of acting talent, pretty cool stunts, and Jim Carrey's best performance in ages. Basically, if you're a fan of magic shows and the such, this is the perfect film for you.Don Scardino's film is about two magicians named Burt Wonderstone and his partner, Anton whom fallen into hard times, especially after the two lifelong friends separate. But as Burt is trying to get himself back into the show, he has to compete with a rising star named Steve Gray who takes magic to a whole new level. This film features a talented cast and for the most part, they do their job well. I must say that Jim Carrey stole the show. He was incredibly hilarious as Steve Gray and my gosh he did some incredible stunts. My favorite scene was when we laid down in a bed of hot coal and I couldn't stop laughing. Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi were ideal choices and while they can't live up to Carrey, they do a good job. James Gandolfini was pretty good here as well, though I feel like he was miscasted and finally Alan Arkin was very good despite his small screen time.Overall, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is a pretty fun movie and it can be very funny at times. Unfortunately, you can't thank the script for that, but you can thank the talented cast for rising up to the weak script. The kids will definitely love the flashy visuals and even adults may feel a little bit of their inner child. But be warned, if you get bored of magic tricks, you will get bored with this film. I rate this film 8/10.

There are some Funny Bits in this Comedy, Enough that Anyone could Hope for in a Tightly Cast, Daring Try on the Outdated Las Vegas Strip Magic Shows versus the Modern Gross Out Shenanigans of Shock and Awe Performers. The Movie moves along Quite Nicely Until the Third Act where things get a bit Silly and Over the Top with an Audience Disappearing Act that is Handled Badly and is Neither Funny or Fun. But Until We get there it is a Touching and Often Hilarious Series of Sketches and Insights into the the Magicians and the Magic they Embrace first as a Love that Requires Nurturing and Not Repetition.Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini, and Olivia Wilde all Contribute Nicely in this Fairy Tale of Friendship, Ego, and Showmanship in Support of Steve Carell who could have Amped it Up for some Contrast. Underrated and Worth a Watch for an Entertaining Entry into the Difficult Task of Delivering a Tricky, Charming, and Offbeat Little Movie that is Above Average.

Many Hollywood types have a deep embarrassing secret-- they love magic.Harry Anderson, Steve Martin, Woody Allan and so many more are members of the magic fraternity. (Here's a quick list of just some you might not know http://www.magictricks.com/celebrity-magicians.html)Its not surprising, therefor, that periodically we get a movie that is really written and intended for the magic community. This movie is definitely one of them. Faithful in its depiction of magic and magicians, both the good and the bad, it is a delightful, funny and touching story about how we can lose our purpose in life and, if we are lucky enough, find it again.A particular treat is Jim Carey doing a wonderful satire of Chris Angel, a man who is controversial in magic circles, to say the least. The casting of Carey borders on brilliant as he is one of the few comedians I can think of who can out over-the-top Angel. This movie may not play to your tastes if you're not interested in the world of magicians. But if you are, it is an absolute delight.
