Creatures, bound by the blood of the wolf, that can kill with curses and move at lightening speed, watching the night sky for the rise of the blood-red crescent moon. They are SKINWALKERS. They feed on our flesh and thirst for the taste of human blood. The red moon signals each pack, divided by principles, hell bent to survive an ancient prophecy.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

A group of bloodlusting werewolves on harleys embark on a mission of mayhem and murder in search of a 13-year old boy, who according to prophecy will be responsible for lifting the curse of the red moon. Protecting him are his mother and a group of closer or further relatives who call themselves family, like Nana, a gun-toting granny. They too are werewolves, but their aims are drastically different - they wish to dispose of the gift of skinwalking. A fight soon ensues and the warring factions meet with bloody consequences...In general a rather easy watch, but a bit too clean for it's own good. There is surprisingly almost no gore and most bloody scenes actually take place off camera. The plot itself is rather straightforward and predictable once the basic premise and characters are presented, but it does keep you involved, which is always a good sign. Nonetheless weaknesses surpass the positives, as acting tends to be all around the place with only a couple of people keeping their cool throughout the film (especially decent if standard performance by Elias Koteas). The horror movie also isn't helped by the special effects. Although the werewolves look nice when half-changed the fully changed skinwalkers are plastic and very B-grade. But than again anyone expecting anything above the standard of a B-movie will be sorely disappointed. If you keep your expectations low and just enjoy the ride you might actually enjoy it. Although all action sequences aren't very well done and border on being crappy. So given you have a horror movie with iffy acting, crappy effects, mediocre plot and no really inspiring action what is their left to cherish? Not much, but still any movie with a gun-toting granny can't be all bad...On a side note: Why the hell is it that the black guy is the first to be killed off? To make matters worse in this movie a black guy is the first to die not in one of the factions, but in both. It is a bit ridiculous and scriptwriters really should do something about the banal and slightly racist predictability of such a scenario.

Combined average: 1.5 He: We had to turn it off. I know it's time to surrender and pick another movie when my woman is in my face pushing on my chest and begging me to shut the movie off. When it comes to movies, if I'm in for a penny, I'm in for a pound, no matter how bad it is. Unfortunately, I cannot override the woman's final decision. The only reason the movie got a 2 was because there was nice cleavage debuted at some point during the somewhat-too-long ramp up to plot development. She: I hated this movie from the start. I hate vampire movies so much. It just makes no sense. A bunch of weird people are wearing weird costumes in the basement. Why? Do not respect this kind of movie. Just shut up.

This is one of those typical modern horror flicks, with action thrown into it. It focuses around two different groups of werewolves battling each other. The one group wants to be cured of the curse, while the others try to prevent the others from finding the cure to it. As a werewolf flick this movie really isn't much special but it at least is still good looking and has plenty of action in it to keep things going. It still can't help to conceal though that the story is being quite formulaic and predictable. In it's core this movie is nothing more but a B-movie, made with a fairly low budget and just not really the greatest cast or crew involved. For some reason this movie still got a theatrical release at some places, while this is obviously a movie which should had gone straight to the DVD market instead. The movie is still good looking though with its effects and also the look and make-up of the movie its werewolves is quite good. The movie had the Stan Winston Studio involved, which definitely adds to the movie and prevents it from ever becoming a laughable one with any of its effects.Too bad that everything else is being so very standard. This movie basically feature nothing in it that you haven't seen before in some different movie. This movie just seems like one to cash in on a popular genre. It also isn't a very well cast movie. What the movie is mostly lacking is a good evil menacing villain. The casting of the 'bad guys' was the worst thing of the movie, while also the leading actors of this movie weren't being too impressive. It only features some semi-well known actors in it, such as for instance Elias Koteas, Kim Coates and Tom Jackson, who still add a bit of body to the movie. I've never been too impressed with Rhona Mitra as a leading lady and she is always much better in smaller supporting roles. One of those movie you can very easily do without, even when you are really into the genre.4/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

Incoherence and stupidity are the hallmarks of "Skinwalkers," a cheapjack horror film about two packs of werewolves (one good, the other evil) who are hiding out in Middle America and doing battle over a young messiah figure who, it is prophesied, will bring an end to the curse on his 13th birthday. The problem is that the bad werewolves want to stay just as they are and, thus, are determined to find the boy and destroy him before he can effect the change. What with its pistol-packing grandmas, its too-cool-for-school, sunglass-wearing, motorcycle-riding lycanthropes, its ludicrous gun battles, and its supremely amateurish writing and acting, "Skinwalkers" plays more like a parody of a zero-budget horror movie than the actual thing. Perhaps that explains why the movie provides far more laughs than thrills in the course of its running time.
