The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I'm not sure of the templates of repeated form each person is comparing this film to give such poor commentary, but in my opinion if ya sit back and allow the film to just be what it is and tell it's odd story, you might enjoy it. The film shows characters we might have all met and dismissed as little odd, and if there's a slight intensity to stereotype, this is seen almost all male and female counterparts, in fact ken in this film is perhaps the only character that comes from a stable viewpoint, he even feels a little odd by contrast in the end. To me this film shows an intelligent look at different people, on the anxious to avoidant scale of what ideas of love and attraction mean to them, with almost all the main characters acting obsessive in other parts of their lives, as reflective of modern times, with a little comedic timing thrown in. No one character is completely mental, each just bumping into the other creates the story, rather than the main character's lunacy, which to my mind was just her trying to take a leap of faith, in belief in love in a cynical world, to which she is pushed as much pulled herself. If you can't see a little of yourself in this film to laugh at, I'd be surprised.. It's not a traditional rom com.

I truly appreciated this film. I appreciated enough to want to really thank the director and the writers for making this film. Being an INFP (myers-briggs) it spoke to me so much. Although I'm kind of sure she's somewhat an ENFP. I really really liked this film. Not gonna lie I shed a lot of tears during the ending.I really did not expect to like this film so much. I feel like some viewers might not be able to sit through the first part as I also thought she was a little overboard but the occasional comedic bits were funny enough to keep you watching. I certainly laughed out loud a lot. Good thing I was alone at home while I watched haha-Also I just really have to say it's a bummer this movie got a raspberry award. Because this movie is kind of like those that are so different from you, that because it's a truth for other people you just gotta appreciate it for what it is.This movie was a truth for me. Although I'm not as overboard as Mary, I see her as someone unique with a special type of enthusiasm. It takes a good person to appreciate her quirks.I started off unsure about liking this movie, I ended up loving it to bits.

This movie is one of the MORE INTELLIGENT ROMANTIC COMEDIES THAT DOES NOT TAKE ITSELF TOO SERIOUSLY. That conscious approach of the film is both risky and refreshing in my opinion. A lot of reviewers who gave this film a bad review point to the supposed lack of plot and the great annoyance they felt for the main character Mary. Mary's overbearing attitude plays a crucial role in effectively conveying the film's message which it narrates in the end, in a form of self reflection by the protagonist. The message is this.... Will Shortz, the creator of the New York Times crossword puzzles said that "we all have an inherent need to fill empty spaces" Mary realizes towards the end of the movie that the whole obsession with Steve is driven by this need to fill a void in her life, that she like many of us, refused to recognize. We fill those holes in our otherwise happy lives with different things like work, exercising, eating, and even a passionate albeit baseless belief of a strong romantic connection with someone. Eventually, Mary realized that this internal void need not be filled with the thought of one great love, like many of the rom com movies try to feed us, but rather by the many people we meet, the old and new friendships we make, and the many stumbles we'll have as we journey through life.

ALL ABOUT STEVEThis movie must have slipped by very quietly. I had never even heard of this until I saw it advertised on TV. I can see why… it was not good. The movie is about a woman whose job is to create crossword puzzles. She is a single, smart, talkative, know all who still lives with her parents. When her parents set her up on a blind date with a guy named Steve, she becomes very obsessed with him. She starts to stalk him and follow him around America so she can be with him… the problem is, he doesn't want to know and he starts to run and hide from her.The movie stars Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper. Sandra was very annoying in this. I am a Sandra Bullock fan, but she even irritated me in this. Bradley was really good though. Thomas Haden Church and Ken Jeong also star in this and they were both probably the funniest characters in the film. The comedy was not great… there were not many laugh out loud moments. I did laugh at a few bits, but generally it was very poor. I think Sandra's character really ruined this film. I think it was just the wrong casting. I always thought Sandra was better in serious roles. She won the razzie for Worst Actress for this movie… but then went on to win an Oscar for The Blind Side which she made after this. It proves she is a great actress… but she needs to choose her roles better. I am sure she will be better in Gravity. The story was very basic. There was not a lot to think about. It was straight forward stalker story. There were a few moments in the film that just didn't make sense… I mean, how do you just forget about a child that fell into a well? (If you have seen the film, you will know what I mean.) Also, the film makes it look like most people do crosswords. There is no way that crosswords are as popular still as this film makes out. Sure, I know some people still do them, but I don't think there will be a huge uproar if there is one that is just too hard like in this movie. The movie is not on for very long which is a good thing. It was not the worst comedy you could sit through, there are a lot worst (Legally Blonde being one of them) but considering the cast and the idea, this should have been a lot better than it was. The ending was also very disappointing… the way she was at the end of the movie just didn't make sense to me. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but the way her character acted at the end of the movie was just really out of place. It should have been written better. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.I will give this film 5 out of 10."Hartman, for the love of God, stop tanning! You look like a Cheese Nip! You look like an orange with lips."For more reviews, please like my Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ordinary-Person-Movie- Reviews/456572047728204?ref=hl
