It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

I stated to watch this movie seeing the crew despite this low rating. A review helped me saying it's not actually a rom-com rather a romantic drama. If you're in a comedy mood then you'll be disappointed. Watch this movie as a drama. It has good pace in it, not too slow.I liked this movie very very much. This movie has genuine script which is very refreshing. Acting was good. Definitely Watchable movie.

This was all over the place, back and forth, going nowhere and ultimately without an ending. I don't really know what this movie was trying to achieve. It did start out alright, different than I was expecting anyways, with a fun ensemble cast and a storyline that wasn't the usual rom-com crap. And while I'm not usually a fan of Reece Witherspoon I didn't mind her here, she looked beautiful and her storyline surrounding being cut from the National softball team because she was past her prime was at least interesting. I also enjoyed Owen Wilson in his playboy pitcher role, he had some funny lines. It was nice to see Jack Nicholson again too -where the hell has he been lately? As the movie progressed though it just seemed to stall out, with Reece sporting a perpetually confused expression as she evaluates her life, moving in with 'Matty' moving out again, then entering into a love triangle of sorts with 'George' a cooperate guy in turmoil who she has zero chemistry with, plus he's acting like a lunatic. There were also many scenes involving catching the bus, why was everyone on the bus? And then the movie just ends without resolving any of the story lines. The credits roll you go huh?? And then think to yourself, what a waste of time. 10/13/14

As stated before, this film at least in my opinion was highly underrated. At first it seemed like the acting would fall short but by the end I was a fan. It was weirdly deep and witty even through the quirky comedy used through out the film. There seemed to be quite a few scenes that everyone can relate to and laugh about. I can't say that it was predictable which is a nice change from many other romantic comedies. I'm sure many writers will appreciate the witty humor used in the film. I thought James Brooks did a really good job!! It is sad to see these types of films get overall bad reviews but I can somewhat understand why. It's not your common "feel good all the way through" type romantic comedy. I can see how this movie might not be for everyone just because the protagonist and antagonist are not so clearly defined until the middle/end but I thought it made it more interesting and kept me watching.

I like to say I made this just because of how disgusted I feel after watching this boring, romantic? film. I was attracted for the cast initially. The film starts kinda nice but after a while you can see some cringe teen moments and the people acting like 30 something college kids. The only reason why I gave this one two stars was BC of Reese looking so cute! Stupid, both dialogues and storyline, lame and unreal behaviors, overacted acting, unlikeable main characters etc...Even OwenWilson and Jack Nicholson were just off. My conclusion a bad film with good actors... it happens.
