Excellent but underrated film

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I saw this movie when i was 14 or 15 in 1989. the only reason i watched it was because i liked the poster with the demonic Angela on it. and it saying freddy and jason are to scared to come. if it wasn't for that i probably would have passed it up. i loved this film and i am not into horror movies to much. just fantastic especially angelas dancing scene where towards the end you can see her warp from one point to the other a few different times. i thought that was really bad ass. i forgot about this movie for many years and recently came across it. i didn't care for the next 2 films that much and really hated the 2009 remake. angela was my favorite character but wasn't thrilled with the way she looked in the next 2 films. this movie had me into it from beginning to end. if you watch it try to get the unrated version. the added scenes might not be that much but if you see the unrated 1st then the r rated next, the way it just cuts off from a couple of scenes seems stupid. just as i do bad santa (unrated of course) i will be watching this one every halloween from now on.

'80s horror flick about a group of teenagers having a séance at an abandoned funeral parlor and becoming trapped inside with an evil force hell-bent on killing them. It's a fun movie of its type, helped by a lot of humor and a nice cast. Cathy Podewell is a good 'final girl' but Amelia Kinkade and scream queen Linnea Quigley are the real stars. Some decent gore, nudity, and many funny scenes (fudge log, sour balls, and "maybe I'm in the mood for pork tonight" to name just a few). It's one of those movies you'll either get the appeal of instantly or you never will. It's an entertaining movie that's about as deep as a puddle and that's just fine with me. Best scenes are Kinkade's sexy dance number and Quigley's inventive use of lipstick. Followed by two sequels in the '90s and a really crappy remake in 2009.

This film was made for 1.2 million, and you can see how they really had made the effort in the stuff that didn't involve people speaking lines. Some of the camera work and shots are pretty good, the sets are interesting, and the makeup is quite good. And then we get to the real problems with this film, the acting and the writing, which was just awful. You have legendary 80's scream queen Linnea Quigley in this film, but as usual, she can't act.Of course, this movie also has the annoying movie convention of casting 20-somethings and passing them off as high school kids. The story is paint by numbers, an evil force is picking off high school kids, but can't seem to kill the "Good Girl" effectively.Still, I give the movie a higher rating because of the technical skill.

Fantastic graphics at the beginning. Really got me in the mood to become frightened. Making the evil dead concept into perfection. Emotional roller-coaster. Cast - wow! Quentin Tarantino must have been involved in the dialogue writing. "Eat a bowl of f***! I am here to party!" Brilliant! Haha, so playful, and comedic too. The characters were very believable. I got really attached to the character Stooge. His death had me in tears. The sound technician made a great job. One time a door closed and the music stopped. So dramatic! The soundtrack is still up to date. I listen to it when I go to work. Perfect cure for the case of the mondays. Nice with the acoustic sound. Better than the modern CGB (computer generated baloney). I wish someone would have showed me this movie during the most difficult times of my life. The ending was bittersweet, sweet because i learnt about morals and bitter because it was over.
