I really don't understand why so many people hate this movie.I've seen a lot of complaints about the animation. It's not Pixar, but so what? It's still very good. From the reviews you would think Tarzan was on the level of an old Playstation game. It's fluid and beautiful to look at. While it's not a very original story (Tarzan's origin has been told and retold a million times in movies), it's good enough for an adventure movie like this. It's touching, romantic and full of jungle action like the classic movies. It's not directly based on ERB's novels. It's more like a combination of the Disney and Weissmuller version.Usually, these kind of animated movies contain fart jokes or sexual innuendo. It was a nice surprise to see that Tarzan steered clear of such unfunny and idiotic stuff. The worst thing about the movie is that they used that Coldplay song in one of the scenes. Cliché!Maybe the problem is that some critics and people have been spoiled by Pixar and Disney. They expect every single animated movie to be like that. When a movie by a different company comes out, a movie that's just there to entertain, it's not good enough.Tarzan is just a fun and harmless movie for the whole family.

While adaptations of the stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs' hero vary in quality, most of them are very entertaining on their own terms. 'Tarzan' fares the weakest quite easily of the lot, there is very little if any Edgar Rice Burroughs in sight but worse is how poorly it fares as a standalone.'Tarzan' is not completely irredeemable. The jungle itself is rendered very handsomely with nice vivid colours, while the music score has the right balance of spirit-rousing energy and whimsy (not so sure about the songs though which seemed like they belonged somewhere else). While the acting was not good at all, Andy Wareham does provide some effectively gruff menace to Tublat in the very little he has to do, while the film finally comes to life in a climax that does have some legitimate tension and urgency. However, the rest of the animation is poor. The characters just look stiff and like they were lifted out of a very low-budget PlayStation 2 game while their facial expressions were either forced (Jane) or lifeless (Tarzan). Very little better can be said about the performances sadly either, there has never been a blander or charisma-free Tarzan than the one of Kellan Lutz, while Trevor St John goes through the motions as the one-dimensional and quite pantomimic Clayton. On the other side of the acting spectrum, there is also Craig Garner's irritatingly whiny younger Tarzan, Spencer Locke's gratingly contrived Jane and Les Bubb over-compensates amateurishly and mugs as Jim Porter. The dialogue is embarrassingly clunky and nearly always sounds awkward, and there was really no need whatsoever for the over-used and over-explanatory narration, which was a classic case of more show, less tell, telling us what we can already see on screen and it got annoying fast.Storytelling was a mess, with a particularly ponderous first hour, an underdeveloped and chemistry-less romance between Tarzan and Jane (an enormous problem when it takes up so much of the film) and the whole convoluted and out-of-place nonsense with the meteorite subplot. It honestly felt like a short film stretched and bloated to suit feature length, and even the gorillas and jungle wildlife felt thrown in and randomly inserted. The characters are little more than vapidly written, one-dimensional and annoying stereotypes. All in all, less than inspired, or even good. Has even less swing than 2016's 'The Legend of Tarzan'. 3/10 Bethany Cox

On investigating an ancient meteor in the jungle a boy's parents are killed and he is raised by a gorilla. As a young man he encounters his humankind again which puts him and the jungles inhabitants in danger.Without being uppity, oddly people are incessant, comparing this 2013 version to Disney's Tarzan (1999) which is a redundant consideration of the similarities or dissimilarities between the two films. The Tarzan character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs is over 100 years old, there has been numerous incarnations across many mediums over the years. After the prehistoric opening and the destruction of the dinosaurs this attempt by director Reinhard Klooss hits all the familiar beats of Tarzan incarnations including Jane, there's also the greedy corporation angle that's been well trodden (instead of riches it's the greed for the meteor's unique energies). The CGI colourful animation is crisp, clear and wonderfully rendered. While no more wayward than some of the other Tarzan stories out there it is still not the most engrossing Tarzan tale. The pacing is a little slow and narration is a little sluggish, that said, it looks great and has an edginess about it.If your looking for a definitive version of Tarzan, or something better than some of the classic black and white films or the much loved Filmation Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle this isn't it but it's not that bad either.

This is NOTHING like the novel! Not even close! The title of this animated movie could have easily been called "Jungle Boy", as that is how far off from the novel this story line was! The graphics were good, but the animator who drew the characters has NO CLUE how to draw a human body, or how to portray the human musculature! The legs and arms weren't even close to what a human body in perfect condition would look like! They weren't even close to what a human body would look like! (The apes looked pretty good though.) Of note, I would really like to see a Tarzan movie, using an actor who could realistically play a man who grew up in the jungle, who swung through the trees his entire life, who ran and swam with the animals of the jungle.A man who grew up under these conditions would have a physique like a "god"! The muscles would roll smoothly beneath the surface of the skin. The man would move smoothly, quietly, gracefully, like a wild animal! Dwayne Johnson would be as close to the perfect Tarzan as I could imagine! Somebody should call Dwayne for the next attempt, but PLEASE, follow the novel, and for those of us who are die-hard Tarzan fans since childhood, DO NOT STRAY FROM THE NOVEL!
