The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

A night at the movies turns into a nightmare when Michael Jackson and his date (Ola Ray) are attacked by a hoard of bloody-thirsty zombies - only "Thriller" can save them now.So, you have one of the great Michael Jackson songs, directed by John Landis, makeup by Rick Baker and narration by Vincent Price. Those are the ingredients that make greatness. Add to it a dance that has now become iconic in its own right, and this is easily the greatest music video of all time. (After thirty years, no one has come close, and the medium of "music video" is almost a dead art.) And, if Jackson was not already the King of Pop, this would have been the thing that cemented him. For the rest of the 1980s, he reigned supreme (with all due respect to Madonna).

Thriller is a unique film that gave way to drama in both music video and movies of the 1980's. "Scary movie for sure," is what I thought when I first saw this movie in 1981. I was only six and it was the first English film that I ever saw. The combination of music and script is what made this movie interesting to me. Regardless of the fact that I was only six years old, and that it was scary to me, I still wanted to see it because of the music. Michael Jackson's sense of humor, and talent became immediately evident with the break out of the song and then the dancing changed me mind. I was able to watch the entire short film which I did see with Parental Consent and wanted to say that yes, that's the way it should have been. I don't think this is a film to see without an adult.

Michael Jackson and Ola Ray star in this 1983 horror music video. The late great, Jackson not only starred in this, but helped choreograph, produce & direct with John Landis after viewing his previous film, "An American Werewolf in London." This is also a short film that pays tribute to werewolf & zombie horror flicks mixed with pop. Jackson and Ray play a young couple who view a scary flick and then find themselves in a real nightmare when zombies surround them while walking home. Michael not only becomes one of the undead, but provides song & dance throughout. We also get a creepy voice-over from the late great, Vincent Price. I grew up watching this and always loved it. The make-up effects are terrific and Jackson's dance movements are brilliant. This is not only the best music video ever made, but definitely Jackson's best I recommend.
