Major Frank Carden (Morgan Freeman) is the leader of a group of well paid hitmen. His job takes his to Washington state. Through a series of events, his trip is interrupted and rescue attempt is botched.Ray Keene (John Cusack) is going camping with his son (Jamie Anderson) for a much needed bonding trip. Playing the good Samaritan, Ray gets caught in the middle of the events, finding himself on the run with a handcuffed Morgan being followed by heavily armed bad guys who are being tracked by the good guys...but the bad guys have never seen a John Cusack film and don't know what a school teacher, wanting to bond with his son, is capable of doing. The acting was good, even if the plot was weak. The film has a twist, but nothing to write home about. Might work for an action flick rental. Not on my keeper shelf.Parental Guide: Couple of rare F-bombs, no sex, rear nudity (Megan "cute tush" Dodds)

A father and son Chris accidentially get into a "story" with CIA FBI and lokal polise in the wild nature - kind of the hunted good normal people who ends in a refuge situation - all the film keep you waiting for a climax - but the instructur just end the art of a film without an end Very dissapoiointing END !!! Which give me the feeling that this picture isn't made for anything than money without any proud from the director to show how to make a pictuture with a MEANING to the audience to leaave the "theater" with anything than feeling boosted

Hate to say this, but I think, The Contract is one of actor Morgan Freeman's weaker movies, if not weakest, in the last few decades of his career.Of course as always, Freeman is deadly effective in his role(as a hired mercenary) and thanks to him, and mostly only him, this movie is bearable. None of the other actors, including John Cusack, was memorable. The role of a serious ex-cop didn't really gel with Cusack at all.I'm not sure why all the other roles in the movie fell flat. Is that because the script unintentionally circled mostly around Freeman? So looks like the script really is to blame here. The movie's sole plus point(beside Freeman) are the many good suspense moments, and well....that's it! Verdict: Watchable. And we know whom to thank....

This film was just about passable. I gave it 4/10 (2*) for the scenery it had on offer, because other than that the film was damn right ugly. The script/dialogue - terrible, the acting- abysmal, the characterisation - non-existent. Do not watch this film unless you like hiking, as that seems to be the only area where the makers of this film intended to reflect something credibly. The actual assassin/contract killer business is represented very limply indeed and is hardly the cut throat, excited world one might think it to be (Go check out 'Wanted' instead, which is also about assassins and stars Morgan Freeman, but unlike this film is actually good) - very uninspiring. As for the main two actors, who's involvement had made me interested in this film in the first place, well...Morgan Freeman just about manages to save his reputation in spite of the weakly written script he is evidently working from and Cusacks not too bad, if a little stuck in his stereotypical I'm a former policemen/Joe Bloggs hero role. As for the rest of the cast, like I said before - blo*dy awful. So, to conclude, would I recommend this film - simply put - no way. I've just put my copy in the trash - as that's the only place this film belongs.
