The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

First animation as well acting is very poor.Secondly story made me angry.Hero kills his own brother for power. And the heroine(knowing that his brother is killed by this man) sleep with hero and give the sword of his brother to that jerk, and her parents(parents of heroine) accept the man knowing he is the one who killed their son.Come on the act of the staring male was completely negative in the beginning and the female is like a sl*t and parents are cowards. So, the story make me so much angry on the staring female and their parents. Now the big monster, I hardly seen him killing someone or making destruction. Better skip this , or you will regret it

To call this a rip-off of The Lord of the Rings is a little far fetched. While the dialogue at times sounds re-worded, and one location (The Valley of the Dead) seems more like it's from The Scorpion King, rather Tolkien's Paths of the Dead. Gryphon is highly unoriginal, however, blended with terrible effects and wretched acting, making it a guilty pleasure at best.Amber Benson performs her lines with a very stale voice, focusing too much on tone rather than delivery. Jonathan LaPaglia sounds like he's got a throat infection, as his portrayal of the heir to Benson's rivaling kingdom. Larry Drake seems tired with his performance, and when he is lively it's just way too over-the-top. Benson's father is too lackluster; LaPaglia's mother seems too theatrical, which isn't exactly how she should be considering the role, and LaPaglia's father has no idea how to continue after small beats/pauses.The music is very redundant, with very little sweep. Though it is safe to say, considering the crap churned from Sci-Fi, it's the best score released for one of their made-for-TV movies. The special effects are laughably bad. The gryphon is so two-dimensional, how the filmmaker thought this would pass with an audience is beyond me -- but considering this is the same guy that made Heatstroke, don't look for any brains. All in all, with a romance sub plot that entangles itself in underlying incest, and a story that is hardly original, Gryphon is only good for background noise like the rest of Sci-Fi's productions. I highly recommend you skip it, unless you're looking for 90-minutes of unintentional hilarity.

I don't remember seeing a worse movie than Gryphon. This movie had it all : uninteresting summary, characters that didn't even bother to act decent in this so-called sci-fiction production, weak effects. I wasted 2 hours from my life watching this piece of crap. This movie finds his place at the bottom of the worst movies ever. Watching this film, I wanted to laugh because of its poor quality, but the movie couldn't even bring a smile on my desolated face. I can't stop wondering who can give this movie more than 1 star????? If you thing this garbage is worth more than 1 star, i recommend you to watch it again and you will certainly change your vote. I urge you not to watch this movie. 1/10.

I have mixed emotions about Gryphon. I thought the idea was really good. The special effects of the Gryphon were terrible as much as I like Jonathan LaPaglia, he just read his lines as if he was still on The District where a lot of the other actors at least tried to give it a medieval accent. All in all it was an exciting movie, if not anything that would get an award and not the worst turkey I've ever seen, and I've seen some real good turkeys. I think the main thing if you haven't seen this film. It's what the viewer would like to see and how the viewer would like it. It's not for everyone, but as the old saying goes. One man's trash is another's treasure. I'm not going to throw it in the trash, but probably won't be taking it out of storage for quite a while.
