Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004)

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

The problem with Science Fiction series is that they are either killed off before their time (like the Original Star Trek) or they overstay their welcome until you wonder what the point was. (all the Star Trek sequel series, pretty much.) Farscape was canceled by the Sci-Fi channel in 2003, merely proving that the people who run the Sci-Fi Channel shouldn't be allowed outside without adult supervision. Sadly, this resulted in the producers of Farscape leaving us with an unresolved cliffhanger on Season 4 that left us gasping with no promise of resolution.Skiffy somewhat redeemed itself (sorry, I still can't forgive them for 500 CGI monster movies they've added to film history) by allowing a four hour miniseries that had our intrepid crew reunited for one more mission to tie up all the loose plot points.Farscape is always carried by Ben Bowder as John Creighton, an American Astronaut who finds himself dealing with the insanity of the "uncharted territories" and the unique races and cultures he encounters. The supporting cast is all there, all giving it their best, even the ones who are muppets. (And sorry, some Farescape Muppets are more interesting than Star Trek people). What we get is a movie which is exciting, sad, funny and totally satisfying.

A very nice ending to a very nice series. The Peacekeeper Wars maintains its moodiness while still managing to be an out and out sci fi presentation. The plot lines left painfully dangling are wrapped up with no cop outs (ie, lets just forget the whole Aeryn and Crichton being dead thing and bring them back with no explanation, FYI, that did not happen). The only downside is, unlike Serenity, you really had to see the series to fully appreciate the movie (it might have something to do with the fact that Farscape got more backstory in 4 seasons that Firefly did in just 1). This film/miniseries/whatever you want to call it is stylishly done with brilliant action set pieces and heart breaking deaths (telling you who dies might just give too much away and my humble spoiler alert would not be enough) and at the end of the film when Crichton holds up his baby, you can't help but go all warm and tingly inside.

G'day I thought the final installment of the Farscape series is a testament to the hard work all the Farscape fans put into getting it up. 10 stars to all the nerds. Like most people I didn't really know what to expect given that my own country (Australia) didn't have the mental capacity to show it on public television (I am talking to you Mr. Packer). However, we waited for the DVD to come out as we can't (and won't) pay for cable and I must say we were NOT disappointed. A fitting end to a series that stretched the boundaries far and wide for us Sci-fi fans! There will be nothing this good ever again - watch it and learn to love it! Never has a show elicited so many emotions as Farscape PKW. Farscape fans are a dedicated and tenacious bunch and will never surrender until Season five is aired.There are twists and turns. Former enemies become allies, familiar faces return. The mini-series tied-up some loose ends, however, there are many more scenarios to be answered for. Also, they could have the series a three or even four parts. By making a longer mini-series, the regular cast members plot lines could have been extended. For example, Zhaan's brief appearance could have been extended longer than what it was and more Pilot dialogue.WANTED SEASON 5
