It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Sure, it is one of so many easy comedies with status of moral lesson. nothing wrong. or good. each comedy of that genre has a small virtue who defines it. in this case, the cast. Gina Torres for the fans of "Suits", Chris Rock not in the most inspired role for him, Kerry Washington as a mistress who not escapes from cliches area and Steve Buscemi reduced at his simple presence. the message is noble and the lobby for family values admirable. so, a nice film. real nice if yours expectations are reasonables.

I Think I Love My Wife (2007): Dir: Chris Rock / Cast: Chris Rock, Kerry Washington, Gina Torres, Steve Buscemi, Edward Herrmann: Here is a romantic comedy that many may relate too about decisions, choices and conflict. It stars Chris Rock as an investment banker whose marriage is going stale and he desires other women. Then Nikki arrives in town and temptation sets in. It follows predictable formula but director Rock pays off with themes regarding marriage and temptation. He also succeeds as a frustrated family man struggling with the possibility of infidelity. He yearns for the forbidden because his wife is too obtainable. Kerry Washington plays the vixen he is fixated on. We know certain things will occur but it is how Rock handles it that make it unique. Gina Torres plays his wife who will give the obvious reaction to Rock's drifting but she plays the role with intelligence and down to earth. Unfortunately Steve Buscemi as a co-worker who cheats on his wife is underused. In one particularly funny sequence he lends Rock Viagra pills resulting in serious consequences. A success for Rock about the importance of honesty in relationships as well as the envy of a new forbidden thrill of outside flings. It proves that he can lend his comedic talents to an insightful theme that indicates his observant view of relationships. Married couples may love this film. Score: 8 ½ / 10

I haven't seen 'Chloe in the Afternoon' but as a stand-alone, 'I Think I Love My Wife' made me laugh on numerous occasions. As writer and director, Chris Rock knows how to work comedy. The jokes work effectively. The film has some hilarious lines delivered with excellent comic timing. However, it is the writing in the story development and the characterization (of the two women) that suffers. I felt that the ending was rushed and the sudden happy ending where all problems are solved just didn't seem believable. Also, the problems in Richard and his wife's marriage aren't fully explored. As for the two women characters, while we only see them mostly through Richard's point of view, they seem to lack in dimension. Brenda is pretty much the typical housewife and Niki is the typical seductress.Despite this, both Gina Torres and Kerry Washington perform wonderfully. Torres especially does well with the comedy (her 'duet' with Rock at the end had me laughing out loud) and Washington oozes sensuality (I could stare at her for hours if I had the time). They share great chemistry with Rock. Steve Buscemi provides fine support. At first I thought he'd be cast as a typical (token white) friend but he's anything but typical and a delight to watch. Rock is quite restrained and suitably so. His character is far less wacky compared to the roles he's known for but he still makes you laugh when necessary.Despite its shortcomings, Rock has made an entertaining funny film. It's a good date movie. Rock can definitely guarantee laughs.

By far Rocks best film, he plays a married man who's become increasingly bored with married life and struggles not to cheat on his wife with an extremely beautiful old friend. This film wasn't boring, it had its comedic moments and what man wouldn't want to watch Kerry Washington, who played Nikki, for at least an hour.I am definitely not a fan of Chris Rock movies, but this one was a mature display and co inked by long time friend and Lucky Louie star Louis C.K.Along with Steve Buschemi to throw in some lines, the movie can be tolerated, is entertaining and not as bad as you would think..If you don't have anything to do, and have an hour or so to burn, then I think you should give it a chance. It's not comedic genius, its just a movie, not every single film should be a runner up for an academy, this one qualifies as an entertaining ride into Chris Rocks mind...
