Redundant and unnecessary.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

After a brilliantly suspenseful first half, the film deteriorates into silliness. All the characters act stupidly, which is just not normal behavior, and the creatures are more comical than scary. (Great tension and atmosphere in the first half).

Every carriage is a buffet car for a pack of werewolves when a red-eye train from Waterloo comes to a sudden halt on the track, having hit a stag. Down on his luck guard Joe (Ed Speleers) tries to keep his passengers calm while the driver (Sean Pertwee) inspects the damage, but finds his job more stressful than usual when the lycanthropes lurking in the woods launch an attack. There are several moments in Howl where one cannot help but roll their eyes, far-fetched elements including the barricading of a carriage using some handy dandy tools, an engineering student who knows how to operate and repair a train, and one dumb sap who wanders off into his fog shrouded surroundings because he hears a plaintive cry for help (needless to say, he doesn't make it back alive). In its favour, however, are a well-drawn cast of characters, plenty of tense action and atmosphere, a reasonable amount of blood and gore, and some of the most impressive looking cinematic werewolves since Neil Marshall's Dog Soldiers: ugly buggers with glowing eyes, massive maws full of razor sharp teeth, manky skin and matted fur, realised by an effective mix of practical makeup and CGI. So while the script might not rewrite the rules, Howl still has lots to recommend it.

It was quite good until we could perfectly see the "werewolf". I'm sorry, but it was one of the worst werewolves I've ever seen. The acting was really poor sometimes, although the story was pretty original. One positive thing also was the constant suspense and it was bloody but not too much, so that's really good. Special effects are nice, excepting to the werewolves. Something that I don't understand is the final scene, when the sun has raised but the werewolves are still transformed...that makes no sense. It is OK to watch at home when you are bored, but I wouldn't pay for watching it. Also I have to say that I've seen worse films of this type, but it could have been better.

A bunch of people are stuck in a train when it breaks down out somewhere in the country, at night of course. We meet the controller who didn't get a promotion, instead a jerk of a colleague did. He's also interested in a girl who works with him. There's an elderly couple, some annoying girl, some take-charge business guy and other, even lesser characters. The conductor goes outside to check the problem--some type of fluid leak. He doesn't fare well. About 55 minutes into the movie, the action starts. One woman is bitten in the leg another is dragged out of a window. The elderly woman is bitten and then begins transforming, eventually. A werewolf makes it inside the train and is killed. At some point some of the characters decide to walk to the station. Then more werewolves appear and things get more violent. We have to deal with the usual drama among some of the characters--some won't act, others look out only for their own skin, and others do care for everyone's safety. There's a bit of a surprise about who will survive in the end. But there's really not much going on here. For a whole train we only meet a few undeveloped characters. Things improve once the horror starts, not that things get particularly scary, but we're talking nearly one hour into the movie. The creatures though look very cool, cooler in the distance than up close but otherwise Howl doesn't have a whole lot to offer.
